Chapter 25 - Semi-Finale

"You're going to destroy everything."

"You're going to destroy everyone you love."

"You're going to destroy her."

"You're going to destroy everything.."

"You're lying!" I shouted at the nothingness surrounding me.

"No, Sonic. YOU'RE lying." It replied.

A sudden wind shoved me forward with great speed, one that even I was incapable of reaching on my own, and a grand path appeared before me. One that glowed with darkness. Of course, darkness isn't a color. Or form. But I could see it. With every careful step I took, I could feel it.

I began to run. Run, like it wanted me to. Run towards the voices. Run into the darkness.

I eventually came unto a beautiful shrine, one that looked very much like Angel Island. Except this one was perfectly intact, and constructed of sparkling crystal. The steps, the pillars; everything was made of crystal. And in the assumed spot of the Master Emerald stood a tall, broad shadow. Dangling from it's neck was a chain with an emerald pendant.

I gritted my teeth and ran toward it, only for it to disperse upon contact.

"You're going to destroy everyone you love."

"You're going to destroy everything."

"Coward!" I yelled as their phrases kept repeating. "Why don't you show yourself?"

Every word began to echo. And with each echo, the voice grew louder. I couldn't take it.

"Stop! Stop it!" I yelled as I fell to my knees, clamping my hands over my ringing ears. It just continued to grow even louder. Then, it felt as though the air around me wrapped around my neck, squeezing mercilessly.

I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I couldn't move; I could do nothing.

I was... Scared.

"Sonic? Sonic!"

He sat up, panting heavily. I stared at him for a moment. He only stared forward with wide eyes.

Suddenly, his hands came up over his ears.

"Stop!" He screamed, scaring me half to death.

"S-Sonic..?"

"Stop it!" He screamed again, squeezing his eyes shut. He began to yell hysterically, almost to the point of crying. He acted as if he tried to move, but something was holding him there.
