Chapter 15 part 2

~Tails~

"Shadow, will you stop pacing already?" Knuckles pretty much just lay there in the floor, playing with his nose like Sonic always did.

"No I will not," Shadow stopped and turned to us. I hadn't seen him so flustered in a long time. "Sonic abandoned us."

"Calm down, I'm sure Big Blue has his motives," Rouge said from the cell across the way. "..Even though he could have let us know somehow..."

"And where's Amy? You don't think Sonic is actually Lavender right now and did away with Amy, then let us get locked up.. Do ya?" Valentine, who was sitting beside Rouge, had been freaking out the most. Everyone was restless, though I couldn't blame them really. I was bothered by it too. I mean, Sonic looked straight at me, then said "I've never seen them before in my life."

I stood again and walked to the cell bars, gripping them in my hands.

"But still.." Knuckles said from behind me. "It was crazy for Tails to do something like that."

I glanced over my shoulder at him. Both he and Shadow were looking at me strangely. When I glanced back at the girls, they were too. I shrank in my spot. "Wh-why-why're you all.. staring at me..?"

"I just can't believe the stone chose you." Valentine blurted through the silence.

"Ch-Chose me?"

"We'll more like you can use it.. It ain't alive or nothin'. I just like sayin' it like that."

"It's a big thing?"

"I said before that only certain people can use it. You're lucky, though, 'cause it could've taken you over completely. Then we would've had to kill ya. You're one crazy little dude," She giggled.

I cringed. "R-Right.." I glanced down.

"It's nothing to be ashamed of, little guy," Knuckles came over and put his hand on my head, giving me an assuring grin. "It's cool. Now you can be of use more."

"Way to tell it like it is, Knux,"  Rouge said flatly as she rolled her eyes.

"What?" The echidna asked clurlessly. "I just mean that he can come out from behind the scenes a little bit more and do a little less tinkering."

"Tinkering has saved our lives quite a few times," Shadow pointed out.

"Guys, have you forgotten that Sonic left us, and we don't know what's happened to Amy? Sonic was at the table with that stranger.. We don't know what's happened since they ran from us!" I nearly shouted. I felt a little offended from Knuckles, but I knew he didn't mean any harm.

Someone cleared their throat. We all turned our attention to the side, where Amy stood idly.

"Amy!" Valentine and I called out at the same time.

"Sonic told me you guys would be locked up," She said, looking between the two cells. "What happened?"

I grasped the chain around my neck and held out the stone for her to see, a bit proud of myself for once.

She gasped. "Is that it?" I nodded. "Yay! One problem down, a few more to go."

"Tails can use it's power for some reason,"  Valentine said. "Like the way me and Lavender can. He's a pretty cool little dude."

Amy looked surprised, but I didn't give her time to answer. "What happened with Sonic?" I asked.

"What do you mean, Tails?"

"I mean why did he deny us, and why have you two ended up in a place like this?" I felt like I was the only one who seemed to care about it.

"Ohh, about that~!" She swooned up to the bars with a dreamy look in her eye. "We're getting married here."
