The month of training had flown by for everybody. It was still a bit shocking to me that it was time to finally compete. Throughout the whole month Kankuro nagged at me to remember where my spot was, but he continued to guide me there every day. If that was not proof he enjoyed my company, I had no idea what was life anymore.
"A whole month of going to the same spot, yet you couldn't remember it!" Frustratedly, Kankuro yelled as the four of us walked to the arena. Obviously, he was still on the topic of that and enjoyed showing his frustration.
"I'm sorry, but I was working on my muscle." Sassily, I said and snapped my fingers in front of his face.
"What muscle?" He snickered at me, and I stuck my tongue out in response.
"This muscle, you may weep at my stomach's sexiness." I said and lifted my shirt up a bit to show my stomach. Earlier that morning, to be more tough and get more confidence for the day, I had drawn a six pack on.
"You drew on muscle?" Kankuro asked in disbelief at how creative of a person I could be with the resources around me. "Baka."
"I'm sorry, all I hear is you weeping at my stomach's sexiness." I said and snapped in front of Kankuro's face for the second time.
"Listen punk-" Kankuro began, but Temari cut in the middle of his sentence with a groan.
"Stop flirting with her. You had been doing it for a whole month now, and I am getting annoyed with it." She said and rolled her eyes at us.
"Why would I flirt with that baka?" Kankuro asked in disgust, and wrinkled his whole face. "I go for somebody who actually has a chest."
"Excuse me, but when I get my boobs and smother somebody with them, you are not going to be able to date this fine piece of ass." Confidently, I said as I gestured to my body, and snapped my fingers again. It was just a finger snapping day for me that day.
"You two are a perfect match, considering your stupidity." Temari said and rolled her eyes as she led us all into the arena. The whole time, Gaara had been silent and observed all of us.
"Hey!" Kankuro and I said at the same time in protest. As soon as we had walked a few feet in, I looked up and saw the people surrounding us.
The arena was a bit different than the one in Konoha. Instead of just half of the battle area having audience around it, all of it did. Obviously, there was no green in the fighting arena. It was all just dry ground with sand in places.
"Taking in the arena?" A voice said beside me. In surprise, I jumped as I turned around to see Choji. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's okay, you just owe me a peach." I said and put an arm around his shoulder. "Yeah, it's a bit different than Konoha's. A change of scenery is always good." Cheerfully, I said and poked Choji's adorable cheek. "You ready?"
"Shikamaru would probably say that it is a troublesome thing to have to fight. But this time I actually have a chance to become a Chunin, and I'm ready to fight." Happily, Choji said with a smile on his face.
"Hopefully we get to face each other then." I said and smiled back at him.
"Okay, everybody is here. Listen up!" A Jonin said and we all walked towards him to hear the directions. "Up there is an area from which you can view the battles." He said and pointed up to a box. "Do not interrupt a battle or be on the arena when it is not your fight. You will fight in order of the line up sheet, and the others will wait in the view box for their turns to fight. No fighting in the box. In the arena, do what you need to do to show your skills. Just try not to die in the process."
