My thoughts faded out and reality came rushing back.

It was the same old alley, the same old meeting time... But was he still the same friend I knew?

We didn't talk much throughout that year. The talking was mostly done by the two lovebirds.

When I thought a Brandon and The Management, I had a dying question. If Brandon was the smartest 1%, why wasn't he chosen to by The Management?

Only Raymond knew the answer.

As much as i disliked him after the incident, I went towards him and asked, " That day.... The Management.. Why wasn't Brandon..."

Raymond always seemed to read my mind. Did he have an equipment for that?

" The Management doesn't choose people IN the top 1%, they choose people who are in the top 2-5%. Why, you ask? The people in the top 1% have been kind of brainwashed when they.. "

" BRANDON'S NOT BRAINWASHED! DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING? JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE IN THE MANAGEMENT YOU CAN SAY AND DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! "

Raymond respond calmly, " You don't know anything. The top 1% doesn't seem brainwashed on the outside, but they have been kind of... programmed
to do something. All we know is that most people that are in the 1% work for Them, and the rest? They DIE. From unnatural causes. The killers are never found, except for one who committed suicide upon being surrounded. "

" Then what group does the top 1% belong to? What are the differences of the two? " I just realised I sounded too into it, so I added ," I'm just asking, it's ok if you don't tell me. "

" Nobody knows their true group names. As mentioned, people are brainwashed and if it doesn't work they get killed. For me, I just work for them, I don't get brainwashed, I just.." Raymond sighs. " I signed a death contract. " If I quit working for The Management, they kill us in whatever way they please. "

" What? That's no difference! You still die if you don't work for them! " I knew I sounded like I care, and I did. Both are my friends. At least, one is..? I don't know anymore. I had one more question in mind, " Is Alice.."

" Quiet.They're here."
