(alice fell asleep on noa's arms...

as romantic as that may sound. noa felt alice's body like a rock. he felt the limit to his physical stamina, but he felt that he must bring her back home. disregarding her mother's intoxicated condition, noa felt that alice should be home. it just sounded right.

so although he felt the dead weight pulling him down to the ground, he withstood it. when he arrived at the door, he didn't know what to do. should he ring the door bell? such a simple question seemed infallible before him. noa fidgeted, his palms sweated with nervousness. alice's soft breathing against his skin sent ripples down his back.

alice was a girl. he knew that. he felt that. but their close proximity made the truth even more conspicuous. her soft skin, the gentle slope of her jaws. how her lips held no spite. she herself was so lovely. what more was there to add?

as time ticked by, noa knew that princess needed a proper bed rather than the makeshift of his arms. he pressed the doorbell. and never in his life had the ringing of the doorbells feel as threatening as it was now. noa held his breathe. or rather his breathe seemed to stop without his intention. stupid body, reacting on its own.

steps. tap. tap. tap.

heart beat. bump. bump. bump.

a hand opened the door. but it wasn't just the door that was opened. it was also the birth of a new relationship. between alice's mother and noa. but as all new relationship goes… )

"hello"

"you have my daughter in you arms mister. what are you trying to pull"

"i'm bring her home miss."

"your name?"

"noa… noa allen"

"you live around here?"

"yes ma'am"

"i haven't seen you around though… "

"we moved in recently"

"oh well noa allen, take her upstairs"

(noa lifted alice's fragile body, conscious of the scrutinising stare of alice's mother. noa entered the messy and untidy room of a girl, who perfectly reflected its appearance. the messy side. the uncoordinated side. alice shuffled in noa's arm. noa would have wanted to laugh and tease her but he couldn't do it in the presence of her mother.

he placed alice down on her bed as if she was a glass figure. as if time had frozen only for her. her motionless body reminded noa of death. it grasped noa with an unexplainable momentary fear. making small ice bites on his skin, condensing his heart into solid, and making stigmas on his spine sending small shivers down his back.

this was fear. )

"are you alice's boyfriend?"

"uh no. i'm not"

"you're not just a friend are you?"

"no, i'm not"

"do you love her?"

"…yes"

"good. then take good care of her. if i see her crying one day because of you, then i'll break your neck, allen."

"of course."

"well what are you waiting for?"

"oh. right. i'll go now"

(noa took a final farewell glance at alice. )

"don't make her cry, allen"

"I won't… I won't"
