"Knock it off!" I yelled chasing my sister around the yard. She has just stolen my book, and this is such a good one!
"Nahin!" She yells running right into my father. He looks down at her and smiles. I stop and look confused. Why isn't my father helping me? I'm older!
"Run!" My dad yells. Then they are off, running into the house. It's not long before I'm hot on their heels. We run throughout the house and then I bump into my mom. She looks a bit shocked to see me running around like a five year old but just smiled.
"They... took... my... book" I say grabbing my side. I was unfit. Very unfit. My mom chuckles a bit before putting down the clothes in her hand.
"What book honey?" My mom asks leaning on the rail.
"Gone with the wind" I say finally catching my breath. My moms eyes widen and she grabs my shoulders.
"MY signed copy?" She says with panic in her voice. I nod my head and she darts. And I mean darts. She darts towards my dad and sister trying to catch them. Finally we trap them in the study. My dads huge study that he had custom made for him.
"Give us the book" I shouted feeling exasperated.
"Just because your seventeen, does not mean you can boss me around" my sister said sounding like a brat. I rolled my eyes and watched as my father proudly placed his hand on my sisters shoulder.
"That's my girl" he said smiling at me and my mother.
"Robert! That's my signed copy!" My Mom yelled at my dad.
"You shouldn't have trusted her to read it" my sister scoffed. My mom then glanced at me and she started to glare. I couldn't believe my sister just pulled that card.
"Gracie!" I yelled running over to her and trapping her in a bone crushing hug. I heard her laughter erupt from her throat making me smile. I heard the book drop to the floor as my sister turned herself around in my arms and hugging me back. We have always had a close bond. Only a two year difference between us and I feel like we have always been best friends. As my sister and I are sharing a hug, my parents are being romantic. Gross.
"Get a room you too!" My sister squealed. I laughed a her remark and my parents laughed along with me. We were a happy family. My parents always protected me and Gracie. They loved us and we loved them, everything in our family was perfect. We were happy, and just perfect. As we were just heading back downstairs to start lunch preparations someone decided to ring the door bell.
"I'll get it!" I yelled running towards the front door. I opened the door and there was a man standing there, he was maybe in his late forties and early fifties.
"Can I help you?" I asked as politely was I could. His eyes stared into mine. They were cold and dead with no emotion. Then just as I was about to say something. His hand came flying at my face sending me right into the wall. I hit the wall hard, plaster fell onto my shoulders and I felt a small stream of blood flowing down behind my ear. I fell to the ground and grabbed my head. I looked up and saw three men entering my house. All scary looking and tough. I yelped in pain as I saw them heading right towards my family.
"I told you the deal was off!" My dad yelled. My vision was blurring as I watched my family become frightened.
"Bahan!" Gracie yelled trying to get over to me but a man stopped her. She looked angry.
"Move!" She shouted. My ears rang at the sudden loudness invading my hearing. Then as I looked up one last time I saw Gracie pinned against the wall crying for help. My parents getting beaten and I couldn't do anything. Then. Darkness.

"Please come back..." I yelp through my sobs.
"I don't remember much, but I remember you... please don't leave yet" I cried laying closer to the grave.
"I need you!" I yelled as I felt my clothes clinging to my skin. The rain wasn't stopping and neither were my tears.
"Gracie you can't be dead!" I cried feeling the worst pain rising in my chest. My cries got louder and louder. My head hurt from the massive amount of pain.
"Don't leave me Gracie!" I cried feeling the words on her grave. She was my sister. My One and only sister. My best friend. And now she's gone. So is half of my memory. My parents are still alive. I'm still alive. But Gracie is not. Why?! She wasn't supposed to go, if anyone should've have died it should've been me! I don't even remember what happened! Why is my sister dead!
"Gracie!" I yelled one last time before sobbing so hard and loud I thought the world could hear me. I felt the rain stop and a hand land on my shoulder. My dad. He was hovering over me with an umbrella. He looked sad. Very sad and heartbroken.
"Sweetie, we have to go. I know it hurts now, but please we must go" my dad said helping me up from the ground. My parents didn't want to stay here anymore, too many memories. I didn't disagree, but I didn't agree to the thought of leaving my sister here. Even if she was buried 6 feet under.
"Why Gracie papa? Why?" I cried feeling frustrated. Apparently, I had gotten a really bad head injury and I've lost a lot of my memory. Being held in my fathers arms made me feel safe but also sad. Because me and Gracie would always fight for his hugs. Now she's gone. Forever...
She's never coming back.
It should've been me.
Why can't I remember?
Why Gracie?
Why? Why? Why!
I woke up gasping for air. My hands were clammy and I was sweating. I blinked my eyes and adjusted to the room. I caught my breath and threw my blanket off me. I was shaking. I slowly walked to the bathroom and closed the door behind me. I turned on the light and looked in the mirror. The girl staring back at me was fragile and frightened. I turned on the faucet, and ran some cold water. I splashed some on my face and turned off the faucet. I grabbed the towel next to me and dried to water from my face. I looked in the mirror again and saw a tear escaping from my eyes. I sighed and closed my eyes picturing my healthy little sister smiling at me. Then I whispered a small wish to her.
"Happy birthday Gracie, I miss you"
