"Gosh Priya! You look so beautiful!" My mother says happily from the doorway of the bedroom. I smile and watch as Aisha and Melissa fix the bottom of my dress. When they finish, they stand up and smile at me.
"Can I see now?" I ask laughing.
"Yes you can see," Aisha laughs and I turn around looking in the mirror. Wow...
"This dress really is perfect for the engagement, I can't believe it's happening in only a couple minutes," I breath out checking my self from head to toe. My jewelry, my makeup, my hair, my dress. It's all perfect.
"I know!! And you should see Aman!" Tina squeals walking into the room. I smile turning around to her and her eyes light up.
"I can't believe we are going to be sisters soon!" She says clapping her hands together. I laugh and Alina walks into the room wearing a red saree.
"God, what is this torture device!" She asks messing around with the fabric. I laugh and walk over to her, fixing the fabric to how it should lay across her shoulder.
"Thanks," she smiles as I finish.
"No problem," I respond before I get tapped on the shoulder. I turn around and my mom has a purple velvet ring box in her hand.
"It's his ring," she smiles as I take it from her hand.
"Engagement time!" Anjali and Courtney shout from the hallway. They were over with Aman, helping him get ready. Along with Gene, Rajveer, Kabir, and my father. I walk out of the bedroom into the hallway and Anjali smiles big at the sight of me.
"Ohh I just love this! You will not believe how good Aman looks! I can't believe your getting engaged and then soon you'll be married! It's so exciting!" Anaji squeals. I laugh and we all start making our way to the elevator. I can't believe I'm going to be married to Aman only a couple days after our engagement. It feels like a dream. We all cram into the elevator and start heading down... and suddenly I'm a bit nervous. Aman's done this before... I haven't. The elevator pings and we all walk out. We start towards the back and I feel a smile growing as I see the exit to outside. Where many FBI agents fill the area and are all dressed nicely. We stop at the door and my mom fixes my jewelry and hair before kissing my forehead. The crowd parts down the middle and then I see him. Standing under the gazebo. His hair gelled back, a dark blue kurta with a nice fancy watch on his wrist. A smile glued to his face and his eyes calm and bright.
"Jao!" Aisha says nudging me forward. I slowly start walking towards him with my group following behind me. My dad stands proudly behind Aman just next to the gazebo. Kabir, Rajveer, and Gene standing behind my father looking ready to jump up and down like idiots. and I walk a bit faster feeling my nervousness disappear. When I'm right in front of him he smiles and takes in everything I am wearing.
"Beautiful," he whispers making me smile. We sit down in two seats and it begins. Everything happening is blocked out by all the amazing thoughts running through my head. Will we get our own place? Have kids? Be forever? Have problems? My thoughts are short lived when my mother nudges my shoulder. She motions me to put the ring on Aman's finger and I fumble with the box before doing so. He then takes my hand and slides a beautiful ring on mine. Oh my god. I'm engaged... I'm engaged! I smile looking at the ring and everyone claps and celebrates as we stand up from our seats looking out at everyone.
"There's food set up in the tent when you two want to join us," my father smiles while walking past us. Everyone starts towards the tent while Aman and I stand under the gazebo together.
"It's official baby," he says wrapping an arms around my waist and pulling me close.
"It's is," I say wrapping my arms loosely around him.
"You know," he says starting to sway back and forth slowly with me.
"Kya?" I ask scrunching my nose at him.
"Very soon we will be married," he says with a smile forming on his lips.
"Will we?" I ask giggling.
"Ha ha very funny," he says sarcastically while laughing a bit.
"Hey, remember the song we danced to at my parents party a while ago?" I ask as we continue to sway together.
"Haan, it's called L-O-V-E," he says closing his eyes and beginning to hum the song. The lyrics start coming back into my head and as he hums I start to sing.
"L, is for the way you look at me," I sing and Aman opens his eyes smiling at me. God he has the deepest dimples ever.
"O, is for the only one I see" he sings back making me giggle.
"V, is very very extra ordinary," I sing as we continue to sway. Slowly starting to pick up a pace.
"E, is even more than anyone that you adore," Aman sings back dipping me down slowly and gazing into my eyes with love and passion.
"And love," I sing while laughing as he brings me up in one swift motion.
"Is all that I can give to you," he says spinning me around twice. When I stop, my back is to his chest and his arms are wrapped around me as he leans his cheek against the side of my face.
"Love is more than just a game for two," I sing and he places a kiss on my neck. He unhooks his arms around me and spins me around so we are facing each other again. Then I hear it. And so does Aman. We look up into the sky and fireworks are being set off. I smile watching the colors fill the sky. I hear clapping and excitement from the tent. I look over and see everyone, pouring out from the tent, looking from Aman and I to the fireworks. Aman turns my head to look at him and his eyes light up.
"I love you Priya," he says keeping his hand under my chin.
"I love you too Aman," I smile. He leans in and kisses me passionately, I kiss him back with as much passion loving the soft feeling. We pull back from each other and smile before looking up at the fireworks. Aman holds me close to him and I rest my head on his chest. I'm finally engaged to Aman... and I couldn't be happier.
