Lost love

It's been a week now, a week with Adira. She's so adorable I can't explain, yes a guy just said his baby daughter is adorable. There has been no commotion and everything has been silent and calm. Everyone at headquarters is always on guard ever since the death threat. Today I woke up to my phone ringing and it was a call from Rohit. When I answered he sounded worried and threatened. He told me to get to headquarters as soon as possible. And with that I got out of bed and took a shower. Of course getting questioned by Melina, but she wouldn't be home alone. She would be with her parents and mine. So I made my way out of the house and now I'm on my way to headquarters. Man... Rohit sounded really stressed on the phone and it actually scared me. It sounded like he was in trouble, his tone was cold and shaky... he's my brother... I hope everything is alright. I turn the corner and I see the gates for headquarters. When I pull up I'm buzzed in and I drive in scanning the surroundings. Where is everyone? Usually training is happening in the front... I drive to the parking garage and there are cars there but where is everyone? I get out of my car and head to the entrance. When I enter the house everything is silent and there is not a soul to be seen. That's when I feel it, a sharp object being stabbed into my back and a hard object hitting my head, sending me to the ground. I blink my eyes trying to clear my blurry vision but darkness engulfs me and my body goes numb.

"Get up!"
"Wake up!"
"Aman!"
I hear multiple voices say. I start to blink my eyes open and go to stretch when I feel restraints around my wrists. I open my eyes in alarm and look around. Gene, Courtney, Aisha, Alina, Anjali, Melissa, Tina, Kabir, and Rajveer are chained to chairs all around the room. I look down at my restraints and pull trying to break free from the chains, but I know it's no use.
"Aman!" Melissa's voice cuts through the sound of the chains.
"What!" I yell frustrated. I see my sister wince at my outburst and I mentally curse myself.
"Aman, all of us are in danger," Aisha says pulling on her chains.
"Oh yeah? I didn't notice! Well why don't you explain shall you?! Oh and where is everyone else?! At a party!" I shout continuing to pull on the chains. I feel a warm liquid begin to run down my wrist and I look down seeing that I've cut myself while pulling against the chains.
"Kaal has attacked headquarters, he's here to attack and kill us!" Alina shouts with anger in her voice. I knew it, it went silent too long, this was all his plan!
"Where is everyone else?" I ask pulling on the chains.
"They have separated us, from the best agents to the worst agents," Tina says looking around at everyone. I look at everyone again and notice my brothers aren't here. I pull on the chains and fight the pull they have against me.
"Where is Arush and Rohit?! Where are they!" I shout pulling harder.
"Aman stop your going to hurt yourself!" Gene yells but I continue fighting the chains.
"I said, where are my brothers!" I shout pulling my hardest against the chains and feeling my self fly forward. My face contacts the hard cold ground and the chains fall onto my back with force. I feel blood rushing from my wrists as I pull my hands up to my head.
"Aman!"
"Are you okay!"
I slowly and painfully push myself up off the ground and sit up looking at everyone from the ground. I look down at my wrists and see blood falling at a rapid pace. I slowly one by one, slip the chains off and sigh loudly before looking at everyone again.
"I'm fine," I say standing up but going weak in my knees. I quickly sit in the seat and stare at the metal chains that now lay in front of me on the ground. I look behind me and see part of the wall on the floor. I must've pulled so hard that the wall wasn't strong enough to hold the chains.
"Aman, you need to cover the wounds before you bleed out to much!" Melissa says and it's like something clicks in my head because I jump to my feet looking around the room. I take my shirt off and rip the fabric in half. I tie it around one wrist with, surprisingly, help from Aisha. Once my wrists are covered I look around the room for anything to set these guys free. Jackpot. On the wall are the keys for the chains. I grab them and quickly go around the room unlocking everyone from their chains. Once everyone is free, I start to pace the room.
"Who's with Kaal?" I ask.
"I don't remember much, but I was first awake and then we all started waking up. Then when we were all awake, someone came in and brought you in, chained you to the chair and left. We had been trying for a while to wake you," Aisha explains.
"I know someone who is working with Kaal..." Melissa says trailing off on her words.
"Who Mel?" I ask stepping towards her.
"R... r... r... Rohit... and... a... a... a... Arush," Melissa stutters out. I stride right up to her with tears clouding my vision.
"Your lying aren't you," I say shaking her slightly.
"Nahin..." she says in a whisper.
"Aman it's true, Rohit trapped you into coming here, he did it right before he knocked Melissa and I out," Tina says and I let go of Melissa. No this can't be happening. No it's a lie. How could they betray us like this...
"Arush we have to do our-" Rohit says slamming open the door and looking at us with fear. I stride over and pull him into the room by the collar of his shirt with no fight from him at all. Arush closes the door and comes for me but Rajveer and Gene punch him down to the floor. I pin Rohit against the wall pushing on his windpipe.
"You betrayed us, you betrayed your sisters, you betrayed your parents, you betrayed me!" I shout angrily. He starts to pull at my hands as I watch the color drain from his face. He's fighting for his life.
"I took an oath when I became who I am, and I will not let down my country by letting you go safe and free, as of now, your no longer my brother," I say pushing harder on his windpipe. He kicks me and punches but soon the kicking stops and his frantic trying to get free stops. His eyes close and his chest stops rising and falling. I just killed my brother. My brother who betrayed me, my family and my country.
"Aman! Bhai! Don't!" Arush says trying to fight Gene and Rajveer off of him.
"You think I'm proud that I'm killing my brothers? No! But now you both disgust me, we as F.B.I agents have respect for our country and men like Kaal want to destroy this country. I will end two of his men today, two of his men who I once loved as my brothers," I say getting into Arush's face. He smiles and starts to laugh.
"That's where your wrong big bro, men like Kaal are trying to fix our country, men like you destroy it," he spats into my face.
"It was nice knowing you," I say painfully and walk over to my dead brother. I take his gun and look at Arush.
"Wish I could say the same," Arush laughs. I point the gun right as his head and pull back the trigger. Then I shoot. The recoil sends pain through my freshly cut wrists and I stare at my two dead brothers.
"Aman..." Melissa whispers.
"It's what had to be done," I say turning to my sisters. Tina has an understanding look on while Melissa looks mortified.
"Your going to get out of here safe, that's a promise," I say going up to my sisters. Melissa slowly nods her head and breaks down crying. I give both my sisters a hug and feel tears falling from my eyes. I can't believe my own brothers would betray me like that.
"Aman, the secret weapons room is down the hall, we can go and get weapons for attack," Aisha says peaking out the door.
"You guys need to get out," I say to my sisters, "take their guns and get out, we can handle this."
"We lost two brothers today, we don't want to lose a third," Melissa says looking at me with sad eyes.
"I promise you won't lose me," I say reassuring them.
"We promise you won't lose us," they say almost in unison. I give them both kisses on the forehead before we all separated. Aisha, Gene, Courtney, Kabir, Alina, Anjali and I all going to get weapons as my sisters went to escape. I need to warn Melina. As we get to the secret weapons room I use the emergency phone and dial Melina's number. It rings twice before she's picks up.
"Hello? Melina baby, I need you to get to safety," I say panicked.
"Aman Kya hua?" She says with concern in her voice.
"Kaal has attacked headquarters, my brothers betrayed me and were working for him, I don't know who Kaal is after but I need you to take shelter please!" I say hurriedly and panicked.
"Aman... please be safe! We will get to the shelter just please, please come home to me safe," Melina pleads into the phone. I smile slightly and feel tears pricking my eyes.
"I love you,"
"I love you too," she replies and hangs up. I put the phone down and look over at Aisha who has a fresh shirt for me and a gun. I smile slightly and take the shirt, putting it on. After I'm fully dressed I grab the gun she has for me and load it. The eight of us against how ever many men Kaal has out there ready to kill.
"We have to divide and conquer," I say putting my gun down on the table.
"I know we can't but we have too, we are the best of the best, we have trained for this... let's go out there and save headquarters, let's let this day never be forgotten!" I say and I can see motivation in everyone's eyes. We walk to the door and say our farewells as we separate. I run down the hallway and see the stairs leading from the cellars to the upstairs. I see one of Kaal's men guarding the stairs and take him out with one shot. I rush up the stairs two by two and turn carefully so I'm not seen. I walk slowly with my gun drawn and look around at my surrounding with my breathing fast and unsteady. I hear the sound of glass cracking behind me and I turn around at lightening speed. And sure enough, there he is. Kaal.
"Oh Aman, it's been too long, hasn't it?" He laughs stepping closer to me.
"Another step and I shoot," I say getting ready to pull the trigger.
"Oh, well I'm just here to ask a simple question," he says in a menacing tone. I stand there silent and watch as he pulls something from his pocket.
"If I'm correct, this is your new baby girl... Adira?" He says showing me a picture of my daughter. I feel rage boiling in my blood as I move closer to him.
"Where did you get that!" I shout angrily.
"Oh your brothers have been of great use to me," he says pulling a one sided grin.
"What do you want Kaal!" I shout feeling tears stinging my eyes.
"I just want to ask you one simple question," he shrugs with an evil smile. He steps closer to me but I keep my gun up.
"Where's your wife? How do you know she's safe with hers and your parents?" Kaal asks with a menacing look. I feel my rage come lose and I pull the trigger shooting a bullet right into Kaal's left shoulder. He yells in pain and falls to the ground but laughs it off.
"What have you done to my family! What have I done to deserve this!" I shout getting down on his level and pointing the gun to his head.
"You better get to them before they are gone," Kaal laughs with pain. I take the gun and smash it into his head before standing up and running for the exit. I shoot three of Kaal's men on my way to the exit and when I reach, I run to the garage as fast as I can.

I pull into the neighbor hood tapping the wheel nervously. I look up at the sky and see black smoke coming from where my house is located. I drive faster and as I turn the corner to my house I feel my heart sink to the ground.
"No."
"No!
"NO!" I shout pulling up and onto the grass getting out of the car. There my house still stands. In flames. Covered with black smoke and red flames. I run up to the house and kick the front door down with hope that everyone got out. I feel myself inhaling the black smoke and can't see. I run back out of the house and stare at it with tears falling from my eyes. I hear screams coming from the backyard and quickly run around the house into the backyard. There I see Kaal's right hand man Vishal killing my parents.
"Vishal!" I shout and his head flys up. I pull my gun out and start shooting at him as he scrambles to get away. I shoot him right in the leg as he turns the corner of the house trying to get away. I would have killed him if I didn't see my family dying. I run over to my parents and kneel down to them.
"Ma, your gonna survive okay your gonna get to see me do great things, your gonna watch little Adira grow up," I say ripping my mothers saree to stop the bleeding from her side, trying to avoid looking at my father's lifeless body.
"Beta, it's our time," my mom says holding my hand weakly.
"Nahin ma..." I say letting tears fall from my eyes.
"We love you beta," my mom says letting a tear leave her eyes. I feel the grip she had on my hand get weaker and I shake my head in disbelief.
"Nahin ma... Nahin..." I whisper as her breathing stops and her hand falls out of mine.
"Aman..." I hear a faint yell say and I turn around seeing a body behind one of the trees. I kiss my mothers head and kiss my father's too before getting up and rushing over to the tree. There she was, with blood gushing from her stomach, with Adira in her arms and tears streaming down her face.
"Melina!" I say getting down on my knees next to her.
"Shhh, Adira has gone to sleep," Melina says cradling Adira. I look closer and see that Adira is not breathing. No... I can't lose everyone today... I can't lose my parents, brothers, wife, and child all in one day...
"Aman..." Melina says in a shaky breath.
"Haan, I'm right here, I'm right here," I say kissing her forehead.
"I'm dying," she whispers.
"Your gonna make it..." I say knowing full well that she is far from making a full recovery, the wound is too bad.
"Don't lie," she laughs slightly.
"Don't leave me alone Melina, don't leave me like everyone else has," I whisper feeling more tears leave my eyes.
"We are going to always be in your heart," she smiles looking down at Adira.
"I love you Melina," I cry holding her and Adira in my arms one last time. She cuddles up into my chest with Adira in her arms. She smiles at me and I lean down kissing her softly. I pull away from our last kiss and see tears rushing down her face. She smiles faintly at me and lifts her one hand up to my cheek.
"I love you too," she whispers. I feel her hand slowly slide down and away from my cheek. I watch as her eyes close slowly and her breathing comes to a stop.
"Melina?" I question holding onto her tighter.
"Nahin... your not gone... your not..." I whisper looking at her face for any sign of life. But it never came. I look at Adira and see that she is resting peacefully with her bonnet on and wrapped warmly in her pink blanket. I feel more tears leave my eyes as I cradle my wife and child in my arms. I feel my heart break into a million little pieces as realization sets in... I've lost my family. I've lost my wife. I've lost my baby. I've lost myself... and it all happened so quickly... everything was stolen away from me... in a matter of one day... a day I can never forget.
