Melissa and Greyson both had gradually accepted the fact that their baby was gone forever. They started to live their life like before; Greyson went to work and Melissa did her usual routine every day. The only thing that changed was Greyson would come home a little bit early than before. He wanted to spend more time with Melissa realizing the fact that she was lonely without having anyone for her company. But one thing Greyson noticed, Melissa would always hit the sack much earlier than him. Not that he was complaining but Melissa did that every night and he wondered if Melissa was too tired from doing the house chores. He didn't think there was much to do since they only lived for two. But not to mention, no more pillow talk like how they used to have while Melissa was pregnant and Greyson started to miss that.
One night when they were resting on the comfy couch watching tv, Melissa lifted her head from Greyson's chest and got up.
"Where are you going?" Greyson asked.
"The bedroom. I wanna sleep." Melissa faked a yawn. She thought Greyson would buy that.
Greyson glanced at the clock on the wall. "It's still early. C'mon, Mel. It's Saturday night. Let's finish the movie, at least."
"But I'm sleepy. Goodnight, Grey." Melissa stepped to the bedroom leaving Greyson alone in the living room.
Greyson didn't feel like watching the movie anymore. He wanted to have more time with Melissa but she was acting weird lately that he couldn't understand her reason why.
Greyson turned off the tv and followed Melissa to the bedroom. He approached the bed seeing Melissa had her back facing him. Quietly, he climbed the bed and scooted closer to Melissa.
Melissa was pretending to sleep when Greyson got in bed. She could feel Greyson's warmth hit her back and she really wanted to cuddle up with him but she held back.
"Mel, are you sleeping already?" No answer. Greyson knew she was still awake so he decided to test her.
Greyson placed his hand on Melissa's arm, slowly tracing it with the tip of his fingers. Then he went to her waist, dragging his fingers down to her thigh. He rubbed her thigh so sensually that Melissa closed her eyes tight holding the urge to response to the touch. When Greyson's hand started to move up to her breast that was when she caught his hand and said,
"Greyson, please. Not now."
"I knew it. You're awake." Greyson said in a flat tone.
"Just let me sleep."
Greyson sighed as he laid back on his side, turning his back to Melissa. Their back was facing each other's and Greyson wished he knew what he did wrong because he just didn't feel right about their situation now.
It went like that for a fortnight until Greyson had had enough of Melissa's uncertain behavior. She had been avoiding him especially when they were in the bed. The more excuses Melissa gave the more Greyson thought they didn't make any sense.
"We need to talk." Greyson's tone was serious. Melissa already got the idea about what Greyson's topic was gonna be.
"Do you have any problem?" There was a concern look on his face but he kept his serious tone still.
"Problem? No?" Melissa tried to sound as cool as she could.
"Are you sure? You've been avoiding me for the past few weeks."
"Oh yeah? I don't think so. Why would you say that?" Melissa asked nervously.
Greyson raised his eyebrows. "You're the one who have been giving excuses every time I try to get closer to you in bed and now you're asking me why I said that? Seriously?"
"Look, I don't know what you're talking about and I think we should stop because we're going nowhere with this." Melissa walked past Greyson but he immediately stopped her.
"At least tell me if I have done something wrong! Did I hurt you? Did I make you sad? I need to know." Greyson's voice softened.
Melissa looked down and sighed deeply. "No. You did nothing wrong. It's just...I'm tired."
"Tired of what?"
"Everything." Then she walked away again and Greyson never stopped her anymore.
Melissa started to change since that day Greyson's parents had a visit at their place. She kept thinking about what Lisa said but only negative thoughts were on her mind. Never did once she shared anything with Greyson because she was afraid Greyson would disagree and end up leaving her. She didn't want to lose Greyson after all the things they had been through. She needed him.
Greyson on the other side thought the opposite. He thought it was okay if they started to try to have a baby again because he knew Melissa was still sad about the loss. Perhaps if she gets pregnant again it would cheer her up and make her forget about the sadness. It wasn't about Melissa alone, Greyson, himself really wanted a baby and he would do anything for both of them to have the chance again. But it seemed that it was not going to happen in the nearest time as Melissa kept running away from him.
Greyson had no idea what and where he did wrong but every time he took her in his arms and pulled her closer she would keep slipping away. He had this thought in his mind that Melissa was getting bored of him. She didn't even love him so that was possible, right?
Greyson didn't plan to sleep in their bedroom that night. He entered his dungeon where he would lock himself in and sat at his piano. He thought for a while before his long thin fingers started to press the keys.
'Cause it only breaks my heart, to see you goin through this to see you goin through this and there's nothing that I can do and it only breaks my heart, you don't have to do this I've got nothing to hold on to~
He closed his eyes as his fingers expertly pressing each key to the song, expressing his feeling through every bait of lyrics.
And it only makes me sad, I think we almost made it, girl we almost made it you know as well as I...
and I take you in my arms, pull you close to me but every time I try...
you keep slipping away...Greyson slowed down when he reached the part when it said,
Should I give up? Should I let go? My mind says yes but my heart says no, my heart says no, my heart says no ...
Indeed, he felt like giving up trying to fight for his love because he couldn't see them together in the future if both of them kept being like this. He couldn't force Melissa to love him but he didn't want to lose her. Greyson loved Melissa so much that he never thought of letting her go. But he knew they couldn't stay like this forever.
