Greyson woke up to see an empty space beside him. There was no sight of Melissa in the room. He yawned and stretched his muscles, groaning loudly. Then he sat up, placing his feet on the ground and walked to the bathroom to do his morning routine. After a quick shower, Greyson stepped out of the bathroom and dried his hair, leaving it messy as he walked into the kitchen.
Melissa was in there, preparing breakfast. She was too focused on her work to realize when Greyson walked in so when she turned around to place the food on the table she screamed a little.
"Gosh, you scared me." She rubbed her chest, feeling relieved she didn't drop the plate. Greyson said nothing.
"Did you have a good sleep? Feel any better?" She asked while pouring coffee into the cup and pushed it to Greyson.
"Yeah."
Melissa had her seat in front of Greyson. She looked up to him and asked, "What do you want?"
Greyson eyed the food on the table. "Eggs and toast are good."
Greyson's tummy was growling. Melissa looked at him and giggled but his face stayed expressionless.
"You must be starving since you didn't had your dinner last night. I waited for you to wake up but it seemed like the meds' effect was too strong. You slept like a baby." Melissa smiled.
Greyson stopped chewing his food. "What? The doctor was here?"
"Yes, I called him. I didn't know what to do when you suddenly collapsed like that."
"What did he say?"
"You had low blood pressure." Melissa looked Greyson in the eyes. "Now I wanna ask you, were you really sleeping when I got in the bed every night?"
Greyson focused on his food and replied, "Of course."
"The doctor said that you haven't been sleeping for days. Was he lying to me or weren't you telling the truth?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"You know it too well. You were pretending to sleep every night, right Greyson? Why?"
Melissa didn't want to believe that Greyson really did pretend but he was acting suspiciously that she changed her mind about it.
"Why, what?" Greyson was behaving nonchalant.
Melissa sighed. "Just forget it."
They ate their breakfast in silence, an uncomfortable one to Melissa. She wanted to know if Greyson was still mad about the lying thing but she didn't dare to ask him at the time, afraid he would get up and leave his breakfast. At least, let him fill his stomach first.
Greyson did his dishes and left the kitchen without saying anything more. Soon after Melissa did the same. She sat on the couch next to Greyson who had a remote control in his hand, eyes focused on the tv screen.
Melissa really hated how awkward the atmosphere was. Usually it was Greyson who talked a lot, asking this and that to lighten up the mood.
