You felt a stinging feeling in your head as you opened your eyes and let the brightness pierce your vision. You were in a unfamiliar room that looked as if it belonged in a horror movie. It was dark, cold and strange groaning sounds emanated from underneath your bed.
'She's awake!' A voice called from beside you, making your eyes widen at the sudden excitement. The black and red haired girl smiled down at you but then quickly realised that you were in pain.
'Oh shit. Sorry. I forgot, you hit your head as you fainted.' She casually told you as she turned around to grab something.
'W-Where am I...?' You asked.
'This is my room. They make me sleep in the cellar so I can take care of our alcohol supply.' She grabbed a jug of water and turned back around.
'Is alcohol really that important to you guys?' You asked.
'Well, it's not just alcohol. It's all our drug supply. Alcohol, medicine, non-beneficial drugs, like Ice and cocaine.' She casually lifted you're head and poured the water into your mouth. 'It's very cold, so I'm sorry if it hurts your head.'
Luckily, it didn't irritate your headache.
'Why do you have so much drugs?' You asked, after drinking some more water.
'It's fun. Not healthy, but fun. It's our way of giving in to the masses while they're blind by sexual and selfish intentions. It's the quickest way to steal everything from under their noses.' She began to explain.
'I don't follow.'
'So, when you're sober, you think for yourself. You act more responsibly. When you're drunk, you follow the crowd. You say what they want you to say. We use this to impress them and steal what they have!' She smiled proudly and began to clean up her lair.
'Why are you telling me this?' You asked, as you stood up.
'Because, Chris said not to hide anything from you.' She answered and grabbed something else that previously resided behind her.
'What's up with Chris? Like, who is he?' You asked. She placed a small bowl of potatoes and chicken wings on your lap and handed you a fork.
'He's our master. See, before he opened this place, us freaks had no where to go. We were just kinda...thrown out of society because we didn't believe their ways.' She sighed and looked down. 'It wasn't nice. We slept on the cold, hard ground. All we could eat were scraps and things no one else wanted.'
'I know how you feel...' You muttered and began to shyly eat your food.
'But, we have a home now. That's all that matters.' She tried to look optimistic, but her true feelings shone through. She was broken.
'You're lucky. After I finish these things for Chris, I go back to being homeless.' You groaned and continued to eat.
'Not if you're with Chris. If your wish means he stays with you, then you're going to live somewhere exiting.' Her use of the work exiting made you question what she was talking about. But, she just smiled and continued to clean.
Soon after, someone banged on the door.
'Is (Y/n) in there? Is she okay?' A familiar voice shouted. The girl opened the door after dusting herself off.
'Hi! And yes, she's okay. She woke up not that long ago, in fact.'
'Oh thank god. Can I see her?' They asked.
'Of course!' She opened the door wider and stepped out of the way. Chris ran in and kneeled next to your bed, looking at you to make sure you're alright.
'Hi.' You greeted him coldly and looked away from him. He chewed on his lip and stood up, looking at the girl.
'I think it's best if I leave her here...' He sighed and began to walk to the door, before being halted by the girl.
'Hey! You can't just dump her on me!' She began to act quite different from before, now she was aggressive and dominant.
'She doesn't want me here, Ash. It's for the best. No one else will take her.' He informed her.
'C'mon! If she's here, where will I sleep?' Ash shouted. Chris stared at her momentarily before sighing once more and exiting the room.
'Hey! Get back here!' She chased after him, leaving you alone in the cold room.
The moments you spent starring at the piles of barrels filled with different drugs made you feel exited, yet uneasy. Ash and Chris had been gone for a while, so you assumed they wouldn't be back for a while longer and decided to try a bit of what was in there. You stood up and winced in pain as you felt your bare feet scrape against the cold floor. Quickly, you shuffled over to the opposite wall and opened one of the small barrels, taking in all the fluffy powder inside of it. Your heart began to race as you thought about what you could do with that. You shook your head and closed it, before you let temptation get the best of you. The next barrel was filled with small containers. Once you picked it up, you could see needles and small bags of more white powder that was labeled 'heroin'. You opened the box, and sadly, let temptation overcome you. You; locked the door so Chris or Ash couldn't get in, practically ripped off your sleeves and fell into a relaxing wave of shame and false happiness.
'(Y/n)? Open the door!'
'Wha...?' You could barely do anything, you felt paralysed but consumed by relaxation. Chris was outside, he had realised he left an addict in a room full of different drugs and instantly realised his mistake. You don't know how many bags you went through. All you know is that you would be able to hold yourself back from having more of it. But suddenly, Chris marched through the door and looked at you. The girl laying on the floor, was you. Your face was stained with a smile and tears. Talking was a challenge, but you did manage to say something, you're not sure what it was though. All you could focus on was the warm feeling in your soul. Everything was happy, no more pain, no more worries, no more sadness. It was perfect.
Chris approached you and ripped out the syringe that barely hung out of your arm and threw it behind him.
'Why did you do this to yourself?' He mumbled as he wrapped your arm around his shoulder and lifted you up. Ash then walked in and gasped.
'Oh my god...what happened?' She asked.
'Please just go get some water ready for her.' He spoke quietly, it almost sounded as if he wanted to cry. Ash nodded and quickly left the room. The relaxation suddenly started to die and you felt yourself begin to panic. You looked over at the barrel that was now missing multiple boxes and stood up, heading towards it.
'No you fucking don't!' Chris grabbed your arm and dragged you back.
'Please, just let me look.' You muttered, not bothering to struggle against his strength.
'No. That's it. Okay? I have to find a room for you to stay in where I can still keep an eye on you!' His yelling made you uncomfortable, and you soon began to freak out. The walls seemed like they were closing in on you and you couldn't breathe. You broke free of his tight grip and opened the door, running out of the room.
