'D-Devin? What's going on with you?' I stuttered as he crept towards me, the grass beneath his feet turning rotten and brown under him.
'You still think I'm Devin? Idiot girl, I am Jack! I kill whores like you!'
'C-Chris! Chris something is-' "Jack" suddenly bolted towards me, pulling a sharp blade from behind his back as he did so. I felt his body press against mine and blood began to pour from my stomach. His blade was injected into my torso. I felt something rise in my throat as he twisted the blade, staring deep into my eyes as I processed what was happening. I felt his lips press against mine and it hit me harder than his blade. He was alive. Blood dripped from between my teeth as my lips curled up into a shaky smile. 'D-Dev...y-you're...ali...ve...' I gurgled through the crimson which was still spilling from between my lips.
'I'm not him! He's gone! Just die! Why aren't you dead?' There was a sudden scream from my tent, followed by the night sky shifting to a blood red. The stars were black and the trees around us began to rot as Chris stepped from my tent, only dressed in his unbuttoned jeans.
'Jack the Ripper, Londons nightmare. We meet again...' Chris growled. With each step he took, another star faded out of sight from the sky.
'It has been a while hasn't it? I wish we could've met after I killed your woman.'
'She's her own person, don't talk about her like she's an object.' My legs began to tremble as the blood spilling from my stomach slipped down to my legs and toes. My chest felt heavy as I slid myself off of Jacks blade and fell to the ground, colouring the grass red.
'She's a woman, woman were made for sex and reproduction. Why do you think I keep killing them?'
'Because you're insane. I'm surprised, however. Why do you look like-'
'My son? Well after I died I possessed him. That is all there is to it.' Chris was taken aback by those words, suddenly realising what it meant.
'You killed my cousin...'
'You can't even remember her name and yet you still hold a grudge against me and Devin? Almost a thousand years later you still despise us.' Jack leaned over me with an evil grin on his face as I tried not to think about the pain. I blocked it out of my mind, listening only to Chris's voice. Just him standing near me was enough to block out my senses. Jack raised his foot and slammed his heel into my wound, twisting it left and right.
Not even Chris could stop me from feeling that.
I screamed, tears brimming in my eyes and my throat burning raw and dry. My whole body twitched involuntarily as Jack pressed on, urging me to continue my screams. 'Leave her out of this! Don't hurt her!'
'Chris if Devin and I have learned anything from observing you and (Y/n) it's that you'd give your life for her. You'd burn this world to ash if she died, yes? You'd kill everyone before killing yourself.'
'What does that have to do with anything? Let (Y/n) go!' Chris looked desperate. He knew if he moved Jack would press on and pain me further.
'Do it. Kill them. Kill them all. Destroy this world and everybody in it. I want to see it burn.' Jack pushed his big toe into my wound. I gasped and just continued to scream. I cried out to Chris, the pain finally getting to my head.
'J-Just kill him! Let me die! Please Chris! Just end it!'
'No, I can't...' Chris muttered and suddenly everything went numb. My eyes widened as the world around me began to burn and crumble. Jack's smile grew as he watched all of it, the fire quickly growing. It spread faster than I could see and before I could blink, Jack was being consumed by the flames. I sat in a a patch of grass that was somehow untouched by the destruction and watched the older man scream.
'This is not how it was meant to be! I was supposed to survive!' He squealed as his skin bubbled and burnt. My vision was beginning to blur and fade as Chris grumbled through grit teeth.
'I am more powerful than you could ever imagine. I could never lose to you.'
'Y-You cunt! I'll fucking kill you! You'll pay for this you fucking twat! You and your stupid little whore!' Jack screamed as his body began to crack. He looked like glass as his body finally shattered and the fire burnt out. Without wasting a second, Chris turned the sky back to its normal dark shade and red stars. The fire was completely gone, as though it was never there to begin with and all that remained was Devin laying on the grass. He was completely unburnt. A few moments passed before the pain slipped back into my thoughts and I gasped. Chris bolted towards me as my vision began to fade to black.
'(Y-Y/n)? (Y/n)!' Chris's voice faded as I fell unconscious.'(Y/n)...You look so beautiful when you sleep. Every bit of your face is calm and tranquil no matter what war is going on inside your head. You demons are the worst I've ever seen and yet you still manage to fall in love. You manage to smile, you manage to pull through. I know how you feel...the moment I saw you, a million thoughts ran through my mind. I wondered what was wrong, what did you think of me, how did you get here? Why did you agree to my deal? I was granted the honour of being able to date you but you still didn't feel happy. I killed a man for you, but you still weren't happy. I kissed you, but you still weren't happy. I slept with you and you still weren't happy. I hope and pray that when you wake up, you'll be happy because you're alive...' Words continued to slither into my hollow mind as I felt hands slide up and down my stomach, spreading some sort of potion onto my skin. 'I love you...more than your gods will allow me to...I set fire to the spiritual realm for you...You're the fuel to my fire, (Y/n)...I wish I had the courage to tell you these things when you were awake but...well...you don't want me to be confident so I won't be...'
'Ch...ris?' I choked out suddenly.
'Oh, I'm sorry...did I wake you?'
'N-N...is...De...vi...'
'Devin is fine...you both need to rest. He hasn't had a real body in a long time. Please just relax...I have something to take care of.'
