I never knew that humans could be this careless of their surroundings and about themselves.

The smell of sweat, smoke and liquor welcomed me as I entered Carl's house. I didn't know how we even became best friends, since I'm new here 3 years ago. I litteraly jump from one place to another after 5 years of staying at a certain place because as I stay longer, people would become suspicious of me, not having a family, even relatives, not showing any signs of aging, and not being sociable as they expect me to be. Then after I had been in all the places, I reach the dead end and my life does the reset again. I start from the very end of the earth and again spend my days jumping and moving from place to place.

Carl was different from the others, he didn't know but he was a shifter, I had witnessed his ancestors evolve from the wolves. He doesn't know it and I know only a little percent of his ancestor runs in his blood, but still, Lupin's blood runs in him.

He welcomed me as any other teenager would do to a new neighbor, even with the gossips spreading like I was some kind of poor girl who ran away from home, I was a witch, I was one of those sick teenagers who rebelled , etc. But he never did listen to them, I think it's the blood that made him judge and think critically. Lupin's tribe had been the best in making judgments and critical thinking, no wonder Carl does very well in school.

"Over here!" Carl called me and waved his hand, signaling me to join them in the table.

The table has two more vacant seats. The other four seats were occupied by Carl's friends from school and two girls who barely had any cloth covering their body parts.

"Hey" I greeted as I approached the table and suddenly their eyes were on me. A smirk came into Carl's lips and guided me to the vacant seat next to him.

"Woahh man, you didn't tell us she'd be here." Gabe, a member of the football team commented.

"Yes, it's the first time in history" Carl replied with a smile.

"Happy birthday Carl." I inched closer to hug him. He was taken aback for a second but later on hugged me too.

This was weird for me at first, hugging people, I mean. I didn't understand myself too, well actually this was only the second time I hugged a person and to tell you, the first time, I wasn't the one to initiated the hug. It felt weird that I was slowing having these emotions that I couldn't explain, maybe it's the effect of the party vibe? Or why do I feel like I'm slowly getting weak.
