Months and even years had passed since the last time I saw him and I haven't heard anything about him, or rather, I've prevented myself from hearing anything about him.

"So, what do you want to drink?" Ashton asked. Ashton never stopped communicating with me ever since he got my number from the island and we've been not only business partners, but good friends in the short period of time.

"I'll stay with black coffee." I said in a bored tone, I don't know why he fancy inviting me to different coffee shops and restaurants once in a while.

"You're boring as ever." He said with a sigh. He seemed too comfortable around me as I am to him. I felt like I had finally met the brother I never had.

"Hey, why are you suddenly silent, I'm sorry, I was just kidding." He said as he playfully nudged me in the shoulder.

I stayed silent. I know it would annoy him, one thing I found out about him is that he couldn't jeep quiet even for a short period of time. He wants to keep the conversation going and he's annoyed when you make him feel like he's talking to the air or to the hand, something like that.

"Hey, are you going to the incoming ball at the Lescoart's?" I was listening to him but I didn't know what to answer.

"Okay, you couldn't say no anyway, I've confirmed that you're coming and I'll be your date. I couldn't miss the chance to show off my beautiful friend." I glared at him but I already know all about it, Caspen had already told me what he did.

"Okay, whatever." As if I care anyway, this will only be a party, a usual ball where I need to show up to represent the company, a ball where the richest of the richest would take the chance to show off their richness. To tell the world that they could bathe in money in they want to, without realizing that a lot of people are suffering and couldn't even affort to buy a piece of bread behind the walls of the buildings they're in.

It's pretty ironic that i see the same faces every time, same names, hear the same words and it goes the same way every time. Money, that's what they're celebrating, it is a chance to gather friends, and make them partners to raise their businesses and produce more money than they already have.

I know Ashton isn't kidding when he told me I would be his date. So I asked Caspen to call Mr. Long to prepare me a dress for the ball.

He never fails to amaze me, the red dress looks perfect and made me look simple but elegant. The heavy make up made me look older and that's what I'm aiming for tonight, I can't show up there looking like an eighteen year old when I should be twenty years old now.

"Ashton is already here my lady." He said as he eyed me up and down. "You look gorgeous my lady."

"Thank you Caspen, I should have asked you to be my date if Ashton wasn't that persistent." He just laughed and his eyes gleamed on my humor.

Caspen had also been a great friend to me like his grandfather, he never failed to amaze me.

"Woah, you're too beautiful, I barely even recognized you." Ashton said as he guided me to his limousine, and Caspen followed us with the car.

It has been like this for almost a year now, Caspen and the other guards had been always there for me, just in case, because being a prominent person isn't easy and fun, it's dangerous, especially if you own billions of money and a high ranking company in the country and even the whole world.

The ride to the mansion was fast and when we arrived there, as usual cameras where all around, but this was a masquerade ball, so I didn't worry that I would be captured and my familiar face would appear in the newspaper headline tomorrow.
