The next morning, Cheryl woke up with the sun already glistening through the cream curtains which hung loosely and swayed slightly from the breeze coming in from the open window. She turned and looked at the time on the clock next to her and read ‘9.15am’. Normally on a day off she would prefer to lie in longer, but there was something about being in LA with its beautiful, sunny weather which made getting up in the morning so much easier. She unraveled herself from the crisp, white sheets on the luxurious bed and wandered over to the curtains, stretching her arms out as she did so. Cheryl pulled aside the curtains and opened the French doors which led onto her own little balcony overlooking the beach as the sun beat down on her fresh, olive toned skin, tempting small patches of freckles to appear across her nose whilst the cool breeze from the sea blew her hair back gently. “This is the life" she thought to herself, happily.
“Well good morning Little Miss sunshine!” Lily cheerfully sang as Cheryl entered the kitchen in her lemon coloured shorts and plain white vest top to where Lily was standing at the breakfast bar, cutting various fruits into little chunks.
“Well good morning Little Miss Fruity” Cheryl jokingly replied, mouth watering slightly at the sight of the strawberries, boats of melon, grapes, pineapple and mango which Lily was carefully putting into a small hamper along with some yogurt and 2 bottles of smoothie. “What are you up to here?” she asked curiously.
“Well, Little Miss Sunshine... I was thinking that because this is really going to be our last full day off in quite a while, we could take this beautiful hamper I have prepared all by myself and have breakfast on the beach” Lily answered in a posh accent, trying to act sophisticated.
“I do love you, yanno!” Cheryl smiled, giving Lily a big kiss on the cheek as she grabbed some bowls and cutlery to take with them.
“I know you do...how could you not? I’m totally amazing” Lily smiled proudly, walking towards the doors leading out onto the beach with her hamper. Cheryl laughed, skipping behind her singing “let the sunshine, let the sunshine baby...”
The girls sat on the soft white sand and started to tuck into their delicious breakfast together. It was still quite early, plus it was a Tuesday, so the beach was practically empty apart from the occasional jogger and dog walker. Every time they seen a guy jog past. they would playfully give him a mark out of 10, which they found very entertaining.
“3” Cheryl suddenly mumbled with a mouth full of mango.
“Oh you're so harsh chez!” Lily laughed. “At least he's trying bless him! It must be hard running with a big beer belly!” she continued, making Cheryl burst out laughing, spraying mango juice all over Lily. “Urgh you little skanker! I go to all this effort making you a nice breakfast and you just spit it out back on me!” Cheryl rolled back onto the sand holding her ribs as she laughed hysterically. “Plonker” Lily smirked, throwing a grape at her.
“10” the two girls gasped in unison as a tall, handsome guy with a very toned torso ran by...this just set them off giggling even more!
Half an hour later, the girls had finished their breakfast and were lying on the sand, watching the waves go in and out, chatting about random little things.
“Who is this coming? He looks like he's running towards us” Lily questioned Cheryl whilst looking across the beach.
“I can’t see properly, the sun is too bright” Cheryl replied, shielding her eyes with her arm.
After a minute or so Lily suddenly burst out laughing.“What?” Cheryl smiled, amused by Lily’s sudden outburst.
“Look who it is!!” Lily pointed, barely being able to breathe from laughing so much. Cheryl looked and then also burst into hysterics as she seen Gary running towards them, sweating, arms flying everywhere and gasping for air.
