A couple of hours later, once Cheryl and Tre had both showered and got changed, they along with Gary were stood in the kitchen starting the dinner for when Joan arrived. They'd decided to make a shepherd’s pie so as Gary stood stirring the mince, Tre and Cheryl chopped the vegetables singing’ whistle while you work’ from Snow White. “You two are so gay, honestly!” Gary laughed at them as they got more and more into the song.
“Whistle while you work...Gary is a jerk!” Cheryl playfully sang, making Tre burst out laughing as Gary looked over to her, shaking his head yet smirking slightly. They were suddenly disturbed by Cheryl’s phone buzzing on the kitchen table. She wandered over to pick it up, reading; <Hi, I’m about half an hour away, come n get me please xxx>
<Alright, on my way! Xxx> she quickly text back.
“Right, she's nearly here so I’ll go and pick her up. You two can finish this off yeah?” she smiled, grabbing her car keys off the bench.
“Aye go and get her, we’ll do all the hard work eh Tre!” Gary replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes as Tre chuckled whilst still chopping the vegetables up.
“I need to go and tell her to behave herself!...otherwise I’d let you go and get her!” Cheryl laughed, walking over to Tre. “Right babe, don’t let him bully you OK while I’m gone. Just set buster on him if he does!” she giggled, leaning up to kiss his cheek.
“Haha!...Gary is the only one who doesn't bully me!...You’re worse!” he grinned as Cheryl pretended to look shocked. “Only joking...come here” he smiled, kissing her lips softly. “See you when you get back.”
“Toodles” Cheryl waved, strolling towards the front door with Cocoa trotting at her heels, wanting a look out. “I’m taking Cocoa!” she shouted as she closed the door behind her.
While Cheryl was out, the boys put the shepherd’s pie in the oven before retreating to the lounge with a can of lager each. “You know I quite like having you around...it’s nice to hang around with a guy for once instead of all girls...they drive me up the wall sometimes honestly!” Gary told Tre, lounging back on the sofa with his feet resting on the coffee table.
“Haha...I can imagine!...It’s nice that you work with your sister though...it’s cool!” Tre replied, taking a sip of his lager.
“Aye it kinda just happened really, it wasn't really planned or anything!” he laughed. “You still shittin it about meeting me mam?” he smirked.
“Yeah!...seriously though, do you think she'll be alright?...I wouldn't be so worried but with everything that’s happened to Chez...I’d understand if her mom was real protective of her n stuff!” Tre answered, a concerned look on his face.
“Aye she'll be fine man! I think she'll like you!....Plus you’re nothing like him” Gary told Tre seriously, trying to reassure him.
“Good...I just want her to know that I’m not with Cheryl cos of who she is and that I’m with her cos I lo...really care about her” Tre explained, quickly having to disguise what he was about to say to her brother.
Meanwhile across the city, Cheryl’s mam Joan had just climbed into the car with her suitcase after travelling down from Newcastle. “Hi pet, yareet?” she greeted her daughter, giving her a quick hug before they pulled away to drive back to Cheryl’s house.
“Yeah I’m great! How was the train?” she replied happily.
“Aye it was alright...long...but alright!” Joan chuckled, sitting back in the passenger seat. “Think I’ll go back to getting the plane.”
“Little bloody diva!” Cheryl sarcastically joked, making her mam giggle.
“Would you really deprive your poor little mother the luxury of a flight every once in a while?!” she replied, pretending to look shocked.
