Chapter One

Threatened

"Alex, I'm out of our house already"

I was looking at our gate while talking to Alexis on the phone. I'm going out tonight to have some fun and to get drunk. I just love nightlife. Going to clubs are my thing. I can taste freedom. Kasi kapag nasa mansion ako, I feel like an animal in a cage.

"Where are you? Are you near?" I asked at Alex again.

"I'm here!" she exclaimed.

Natanaw ko ang kanyang puting SUV na papalapit. Nang nasa tapat na sa akin ang kanyang kotse, I immediately hopped in the passenger's seat.

I looked at my watch, eleven o'clock.  Okay, I still have four hours. I'll be back at three in the morning kasi tulog pa lahat ng tao sa mansion namin... I guess? I just don't want to go home early. I want to enjoy my night.

"Hi Lex!" I greeted my bestfriend and gave her a peck on the cheek. Siningkitan niya lang ako.

"You sneaked out again?" tanong niya habang umiiling.

"Ay, obvious ba? Sige gagalingan ko nalang sa susunod, para hindi mo talaga mapansin" I answered her and laughed.

Bumilog ang kanyang mata at nagsalita. "My God, Elodie! If Tito Anton knows that I was the one who picked you up, hinding hindi na ako makakapasok sa bahay niyo. Sayang, masarap pa naman magluto ng carbonara si Manang"

She started the engine and stepped on the gas. I told Alex to pick me up cuz I destroyed my car. I was too drunk at that time that I crashed my car and ended up at the hospital. Thank God buhay pa rin naman ako, pero grounded nga lang. But still, Dad doesn't know I sneaked out at night.

Sinagot ko siya. "First stop calling me Elodie. You already know that it annoys me"

She knows why I hate being called Elodie. It's my first name, I wanted to be called Ellie and my Mom used to call me that. Nagpatuloy ako sa sinabi ko.

"And second, Lex. Don't worry ako bahala sa'yo. Alam mo naman na expert ako sa mga ganito? I've been doing this for years already" lumingon ako sa kanya.

"Okay... fine. You said so" she sighed.

Nagsimula na siyang mag-maneho. I took out my phone from my purse and started to take some videos so I could post it on my IG story.

Alexis has been my bestfriend since first year highschool. Minsan hindi siya sumasang-ayon sa mga ginagawa ko, pero she's always there naman para sa akin.

We're like the Yin-Yang. Ako iyong black at siya naman 'yong white. We're totally opposite but we're fit for each other. She's reall a good friend. Iniintindi niya ang pagiging hardheaded ko.

Nakarating na kami sa Sapphire, the most famous and expensive club in Manila. The socialites' club and of course, kasali na ako d'on. Siyempre, all of my friends are rich. Alexis is rich, malamang. She's the daughter of the City Mayor. She comes from a family of politicians.

I was checking my face in the mirror and felt Alexis' stares. I looked at her and she cleared her throat.

I can sense she's somewhat like worried? Parang may gusto siyang sabihin pero pinipigilan niya lang ang kanyang sarili. Kumunot na ang noo ko and started to worry na rin. Kaya nagtanong na talaga ako.

"What's wrong Lex?"

"Uhm, nandiyan kasi si... si Travis" napalunok siya pagkatapos niyang sinabi iyon. Na para b'ang, kanina pa siya hirap na hirap na masabi ang mga salita na iyon. I sighed and dramatically rolled my eyes.
