Chapter Twenty-Four

Idea

"You.. you what!? You asked Kiel on a date!?" sigaw ni Alexis sa kabilang linya.

"Uh-huh.." I answered while scanning through my closet looking for a top that would pair my pastel pink skirt.

Tinawagan ko agad si Alex pagkauwi ko sa bahay para sabihin sa kanya na magdadate kami ni Kiel bukas.

I took the white off shoulder blouse from my closet and placed it in front of my chest to checked it on the mirror. It doesn't look good. Hindi bagay sa skirt ko. Ugh, ba't sobrang conscious ako ngayon para sa susuotin ko bukas?

The big round couch inside my walk-in closet is so messy right now na halos di na ito makita dahil puno ito ng mga damit ko. I've been inside for almost an hour now, trying to pick a good outfit for tomorrow pero wala parin akong napili.

"I really can't believe it!"

Napalayo ko konti ang aking phone dahil sa malakas na boses ni Alexis. She's been yelling the whole time.

"Would you tone down your voice Alex, please lang?"

"Oh sorry. Gosh, Ellie! You never asked any guy on a date before. Sila lahat ang gumagawa sa first move and wow, look at you!" she said nonstop.

She's not so loud now compared a while ago, but it's like she's still chasing her breathe. I chuckled at what she said at nagpatuloy pa rin sa pagpili ng top. I told her about my plan for tomorrow.

"Yeah, I know. It's a new for me. I was kinda... you know, challenged. By the way, I already booked a table for us sa Nuit Noire. What do you think? Would he like it?" I bit my lower lip.

While I was on my way home, I immediately called the Nuit Noire for a reservation. Plano ko sana mag-didinner date kami bukas.

I picked that place because it's one of my favorites. It's a rooftop bar and restaurant plus, the view is spectacular. You can see the whole city on top. Thinking about it makes me all giddy and excited for tomorrow night. I guess hindi pa nakapunta si Kiel doon. Magugustohan kaya niya ang venue?

"Woah, woah, woah! Wait a minute, sa Nuit Noire!? Ellie, it's expensive there! Ano ka ba, are you sure Kiel can afford?" halos pasigaw na naman siya.

"Huh? I won't let him pay for me. Siyempre, ako ang nagyaya. So, I'm going to pay for our dinner"

"Hello? Ellie can you hear yourself? Ikaw ba ang lalaki dito ah? Why pay that much for a guy?"

I rolled my eyes and sighed. Heto na naman tayo sa pagiging hopeless romantic ni Alexis. Old school kasi iyan. Naniniwala na dapat ang lalaki ang grabeng mag-effort sa relationship. 

She believes in harana, courtship, boys should do the first move, all those cheesy things like fate and destiny. So what if I'll treat Kiel? It's 21st century already. Girls can do the first move! Gender equality!

"Come on, nasa twenty-eighteen na tayo! Goodbye Maria Clara. Hindi na iyan uso, Lex. Just let me do my way, alright?" I answered while tossing another top on the couch. She let out a heavy breathe bago magsalita.

"Ellie.." suminghap muna siya bago nagpatuloy. "Just.. just don't give your everything just for this one guy. Magtira ka para sa sarili mo, you understand?" seryoso na ang tono ng kanyang boses ngayon.

Napatigil ako sa ginagawa ko dahil sa mga salitang binitawan ni Alex. Matagal akong nakapagsalita dahil tinitimbang ko nga ang sinabi niya.

Nag-isip ako, did I really gave everything? Is this too much? Ito pa lang nga ang simula pero hindi naman sobra. It's just a dinner date anway. I'm not really expecting for another one.. pero paano kung mauulit nga. I shook my head.
