Nakalayo-layo na rin ako sa booth namin. I need to get away from there. I need air. Nakakunot ang noo ko habang lumalakad.
Suddenly, nakasalubong ko si Ivan. Napahinto ako, pati na rin siya. He stepped back.
"O Ellie, what's up? Bakit parang crumpled paper iyang mukha mo?" he looked at me curiously.
"Shut up, Ivan" I let out a heavy sighed.
Pumikit ako ng mariin, inhaling and exhaling. Trying to calm myself. I slowly opened my eyes.
"Have you eaten lunch?" I asked.
Medyo nagugutom na rin ako. I just remembered na wala pa pala akong breakfast at wala pa akong nakain kahit ano simula pa kaninang umaga. Now, it's time for me to eat. I want someone to accompany me.
"Why? Libre mo?" he wiggled his eyes.
I wanted to scowl at him, pero wala akong time at energy para gawin iyon.
"Yeah.. yeah sure, whatever" sabi ko.
"Alright" he fisted his hand and raised it in the air.
God, Ivan's nineteen but he acts like a ten year old boy. I shook my head at nauna nang lumakad sa kanya.
Sabay na kaming pumunta sa canteen. I gave him the money and he ordered for me. I told him na fish fillet at chopsuey lang ang kakain ko at siya na bahala kung ano ang gusto niya.
Umupo ako sa isa sa mga lamesa and placed my bag on top. Kinuha ko ang aking cellphone at binuksan iyon. I was shocked to see messages and five missed calls from Kiel! Isa't-isa ko iyong binasa.
Kiel: Where are you, Elodie?
Kiel: Kumain ka na ng lunch?
Kiel: Why did you left the booth? Mag-isa ka lang? Who are you with?
I immediately locked my phone and placed it back inside my bag. Dineadma ko lang ang mga messages niya. I don't want to reply.
He's giving me mixed signals and I don't like it. He's very sweet and caring to me, pero bakit ganon? Bakit ba kasi siya ganon sa akin kung may girlfriend na naman siya? I want it straight to the point. At ba't niya naman ako hinahanap? He should be with his girlfriend. Is he not enjoying her company? I rolled my eyes.
Bumalik na si Ivan na may dalang tray. He placed it on the table and passed my food.
"One for you... and three for me" at humahalaklak siya. Umiling nalang ako.
Isa lang kasi ang plate ko. Sa kanya, tatlo. Malakas at matakaw kasi 'tong kumain. I think kailangan naman talaga sa kanya ang kumain ng marami. He's an athlete and he needs it. Kaya nga marami rin siyang energy.
