Chapter Twenty

Temporary

Stressed and busy kaming lahat. It's already Wednesday at bukas na ang opening ng aming College Days. Nandito kami ngayon sa field where all the booths are located. All the College of Business students are very busy. Some are carrying the sound system, tables and even some tarps and tents.

Nandito si Ivan sa booth namin. Their booth is just two booths away from us kaya ito siya ngayon, nangungulit sa amin at nanunukso kay Nicolas. Mabuti naman hindi siya sinita ni Kiel. We're almost done with our bahay kubo. Finishing touches and we're good to go.

"Adjust lang natin konti dito Nicolas" sabi ni Kiel.

They adjusted the wall of the bahay kubo so it would look straight. Kami naman ni Alexis ay nagsasabit ng banderitas sa labas ng kubo.

"Okay. Tapos na" sabi ulit ni Kiel.

I looked at Kiel. Ivan just lazily looked at them at tumayo galing sa puting mono block chair. He went out of the booth and scanned it. He tilted his head and rubbed his chin.

"Bahay kubo, huh? Cool" sabi ni Ivan. "Who's idea is this?"

Of course, Kiel being the good guy, he pointed at me. Ivan glanced at me while raising his eyebrow.

"Really queen? Ang genius mo naman" he said in a teasing tone. He even patted my head.

Inalis ko ang kamay niya sa ulo ko. Inirapan ko siya, but he just chuckled. Tapos inakbayan niya ako. Ivan's like this and besides were close, so okay lang naman sa akin umakbay siya.

"Why are you even here? You should be helping your teammates" I said.

Ivan's taller than me, pero mas maliit siya konti kay Travis. Travis is around six feet tall. I think they also have the same height with Kiel. My head is just until Ivan's neck. Lumayo siya ng bahagya sa akin, para tignan ako pero naka-akbay pa rin siya. Now, it's his turn to roll his eyes.

"Ugh, the payatot is so noisy. Ang daming demand, sakit sa ulo. I'd rather chill here with you guys" sabi niya.

Tumawa naman ako. Ivan smirked, but I stopped laughing when Kiel went out of the booth.

"Alis lang ako saglit" he said without looking at us and he stormed off.

Tinignan ko pa rin siya kahit malayo na siya sa amin, hanggang sa lumiko na siya at hindi ko na nakita. I pouted and shrugged my shoulders. Umupo naman ulit si Ivan sa mono block chair. Iyon din ang ginawa ni Nicolas at nagkwentuhan na sila.

I stepped back to look at our bahay kubo. Just like what I wanted. Native, simple but catchy. Dahil siguro sa mga banana leaves at iba't-ibang kulay ng mga banderitas. We still have to place a cloth and mga wooden trays para sa native delicacies namin pero bukas nalang. Lumapit si Alexis sa akin.

"Nagseselos iyong crush mo" pabulong niyang sabi sa akin.

"Ba't mo naman nasabi iyan?" I gave Alexis look.

"Hmm.. alam mo kanina ko pa siya pinagmamasdan pati na rin kayo ni Ivan" she rolled her eyes.

"Kanina, I was fixing the banderitas pero I was observing Kiel. He was okay naman but when Ivan placed his arm around your shoulders, parang nag-change ang mood ni Kiel! Tapos, palagi nang nakakunot ang noo niya, mukhang bad trip. Tapos ayon umalis" then she laughed boisterously.

I don't know if Alexis is just exaggerating pero para naman akong kinilig sa sinabi ni Alexis. Gusto ko sanang paniwalaan ang sinabi niya, kaso, I just don't want to assume things. Ako lang masasaktan sa huli. Baka siguro may importante lang talaga siyang gagawin o pupuntahan kaya umalis siya. So, I just shrugged my shoulders at Alexis.
