Present day

"You called me Willow" she said to him. The man driving at a quick pace "my name isn't Willow"

Elijah didn't say anything. His heart was beating a mile a minute, he hadn't seen this girl in five years and now all of a sudden he had to speed her back home.

"Where are you taking me? Why did I even get into your car?" She asked, quizzing him constantly. The girl halted, her gasp caught "you're going to kill me, aren't you?"

Elijah laughed, shaking his head. "I'm not going to kill you. I'm here to do the exact opposite of that" he told her, but she didn't trust him one hundred percent, though he did save her from her attacker.

She took a closer look, the small features becoming ever so familiar to her. "I know you" she remarked, squinting her eyes and tilting her head to look at a different angle.

Elijah's heart stopped. Did she really remember him? Did his compulsion wear off and her memories were coming back?

"You're the man from my nightmares" she revealed "its- it's your eyes, I've seen them before"

"You're nightmares?" He asked, Elijah was expecting a completely different answer. But at least she didn't remember, but she soon would, he just needed to get her back to New Orleans, stat.

"Why should I tell you?" She drifted in and out of being stubborn and opening up to him. It was only a matter of seconds and a but of prying to get her to tell him. "You're some weird guy who has somehow gotten into my head for the past five years and made my life a living hell. And now you've kidnapped me and I don't know where we are going."

She huffed. "If you don't want to kill me, then why am I in this car? Is this some sick joke? Did someone out you up to this?"

"You're in this car because I'm protecting you. Everything will make a hell of a lot of sense when we get back to New Orleans" Elijah turned left at the junction swiftly, pressing his foot down on the gas.

"New Orleans?!" She was almost shouting now "that's like 12 hours away?! Everyone's going to ask where I am? I can't just leave!"

"I can get everything sorted" Elijah said "I'll get someone to move your things and tell everyone you've moved. You cannot go back"

"You can't tell me what I can and cannot do" she was panicking now, her heart rate increased, almost deafening Elijah as she fidgeted, hyperventilating, pulling on the door handle to get it open. But he had locked it.

"Willow" he said, trying to get her to calm down "Ashley, please" he corrected himself "calm down"

"Why should I? You just blatantly told me I can't go back to my own home. What're you going to do to me?" She was crying now.

"Because that's not your home" Elijah snapped back at her "your home, its in New Orleans, with me and my family. Five years ago, I sent you here, to protect you"

"I have no recollection of any of that" she said "you're lying, you must have mistaken me for someone else. This Willow girl. She's not me"

"You are Willow. I created the persona of Ashley for you so you could lay low and stay unnoticed"

"From who?!" She asked, recalling a few of her dreams she managed to piece together "let me guess, a magical vampire who wants me to die?"

Elijah didn't talk, he didn't answer her but that was just the weird reply she needed to somewhat make sense of this new reality.

"You are fucking kidding me?" She asked, resting her head back. "You can't be telling me this is all true, that- it sounds stupid, you're a vampire and I'm somehow this thing that everything wants because I can kill things with my blood"

Elijah pulled over onto the side of the road. He gave her a second to realise and try to get out, but she couldn't.

"Look at me" he said, and she did. "When I finish talking, you'll fall asleep, and in your slumber you will remember everything that I compelled away from you five years ago. I'll take you home and put you in bed, and when you wake, you'll know what's happened"

Elijah stopped talking and watched as Willow's eyes flickered slowly, she tried to fight it, but it was impossible. Her eyelids became heavier and heavier until they shut, and she drifted away into the past.

Elijah got out of the car and lifted the unconscious girl from the front and placed her, lying down in the back seat. He couldn't believe it was really her, it felt like only yesterday he left her in the snow.

He didn't know who attacked her. And he wasn't keen on knowing. Ever since Tristan believed Willow had died, he completely disappeared, the Strix disbanding and leaving them in peace. Maybe to find another way of killing them.

Was Tristan back? Or was this a completely different enemy they needed to overcome. Either way, Willow was no longer safe, and it was Elijah's turn to protect her.
