You know what I want
Willow clutched Christopher's chain in her hand as she stared down at it. "Things would be a hell of a lot easier if you were here, Chris" she whispered to herself. She wondered what he would say about this all, it was funny, she didn't think of what he'd say until she was given the chain.
But he would say something along the lines of do what's best for you. Willow never thought of herself, she always thought of the others. And with a heavy heart, she finally chose her answer, in the long run, it would be good for both herself and the others around her. It's just a lot of pain for the moment being.
She was sat on the sofa in the compound, the night had arrived and everybody was in their rooms. Willow had taken a moment out of reading through books, she couldn't take this burden any longer, she had to put a stop to it.
"You text?" Bradley came in, asking about her rather vague text.
Willow stood to her feet immediately, jumping at the sound of his voice. Her eyes were red, she was sniffling and just recovering from a long episode of sitting in her room, reminiscing about Christopher, feeling sorry for herself and crying.
"I need you to sit down" she sniffed, turning to him and revealing her obvious post-crying face.
"Ash, what's wrong?" His voice turned soft all of a sudden "you've been crying"
"Please, please just sit down. Please let me speak" she was almost begging for him to sit down, and when he did, so did she.
Bradley looked at her, the realisation in his face slowly becoming clearer and clearer as his understanding of why he was here became clearer.
"Ashley, no" he shook his head as he came to the sharp realisation that his plan had backfired, he wanted her all to himself and by giving her that ultimatum, he had lost her "Ash, think about what you're saying"
"I already have" she pressed her lips together in a sad smile "and I know it's best for you, if I let you move on"
"What about everything we have?" He asked "the wedding, the plans, all of our dreams? What about our two children we were planning, our dream house in the country side, our annual family vacations to the Grand Canyon, everything we ever wanted, it's still in reach"
She shook her head "it never was. It was always just a little out of our reach"
"We had the church; we were going to get married in the church you always wanted, Ashley, you even had your dress" he carried on
"It's not Ashley, it's Willow" she corrected him, cowering as he began to grow stern
"Two months, in two months we were going to get married and you're willing to throw all of it away?!" Bradley was utterly heartbroken, he felt like his entire world was crumbling beneath his fingers when only a month ago he had it in the palm of his hand "it's like I don't know you anymore"
"It's because you don't" she finally managed to gain the confidence to raise her voice back at him, not caring if anyone came out to see "my name is Willow, it's not Ashley, I am the complete opposite of what you grew to know, that's the whole point of going into hiding, so nobody can track me down. Ashley isn't real, you've fallen in love with a figment of everyone's imagination"
"Ashley, please-"
"I said, Bradley" she shouted "It is not Ashley, its Willow! I've been nothing but accommodating to you, I've even let you believe some part of me was still Ashley, I rarely corrected you, But this has gone too far now. So I'm putting an end to it"
"Willow" He finally said her real name "Think about what you're doing, what you're giving up along with me. Didn't you want the life we planned?"
"Maybe, maybe not" She shrugged "Maybe I want a life with someone I know, because the Bradley I knew would have made sure I was okay before giving me this ultimatum. You stabbed me and pretending you were the one bleeding"
"I'm sorry, okay? I regret it, I'm so sorry for being such an idiot to you, please just re think this whole thing" He pleaded
"My mind is made up, Brad" She shrugged "It's up to you where you want to go next, but I've washed my hands of this now" She slid the ring off her finger and placed it into Bradley's shaking hand.
She walked away, her hand grasping the rail of the stairs as she stepped up to the first. Willow stopped to take a breath, she just ended something that she had for five years, was it the wrong decision?
"I'll wait for you" He called after her "I'm staying in New Orleans until you realise what you truly want"
"That's your decision" She replied, not turning around to look at him.
Part one of her tasks to do today was done, and now for part two
