Willow couldn't get to sleep that night.

Taunted by the presence of vampires in the other rooms, she didn't feel stable. She didn't feel safe.

She knew; she knew Klaus would be asleep, three doors down to the right, and Rebekah too, just opposite Klaus' room. With one quick sweep, they could be gone.

Why was she thinking like this? Willow snapped herself out of it and shut her eyes again, but instead of drifting off into a deep sleep, she just pictured murderous rampages with dead vampires and blood everywhere.

She sat up, trying to keep herself busy. Knowing that if she gave in for one minute, something would go dreadfully wrong. How could she stop this? She needed to.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea for her to sleep alone anyway. Willow twiddled her fingers as she toyed with the idea of waking Elijah and asking for him to sit with her for a moment until she fell asleep. After all, he was the only one that made her feel safe; it had always been him, nobody else.

Nobody had to know, right? She wouldn't spark any thoughts in Bradley for him to realise that there was still something between them.

"I could just sleep on the floor" she told herself, convincing herself to go. It was for the good of everyone in the compound. Surely, Willow knew there was no way in hell Elijah would even allow her to sleep on the floor. But it did convince her.

She stepped out of bed, her bare feet touching the cold floorboards, fighting the feeling to turn for Niklaus' and Rebekah's room. But always, love overcomes hate. It was just a shame that every time Willow had a strong surge of feelings towards Elijah, she pushed them down immediately in order to save Bradley's feelings from being hurt.

Willow pushed Elijah's door open, he was lying in bed, asleep. She cleared her throat, somewhat nervous to get his attention. "Elijah" she whispered, just quiet enough for only herself to hear. Quieter than a mouse.

But with his super senses, Elijah heard her voice loud and clear. Even in the deepest of sleeps, he would wake up at the sound of her voice. No matter how much he was dreaming, he still could decipher her voice in reality to her voice in his head.

"Is everything alright?" His sleepy voice was enough to make her weak at the knees, that alone with his squinted eyes and messy hair. There was something about that original vampire, that when he was anything but smart, neatly groomed, it attracted her somehow. He moved quickly and soon enough he stood in front of her, Willow cursing herself for feeling nervous in front of the man that she had known for years.

"I don't feel safe alone tonight" she murmured "do you mind if I sit with you for a bit?"

Elijah blinked, he didn't move for a solid few seconds, enough for Willow to realise it herself. "You don't have to ask" he slightly shook his head and turned, walking back to get into bed.

"I do" she murmured seeing as we aren't even together anymore. But he shrugged it off and threw the blanket off the empty side of the bed for her to climb in beside him.

Elijah didn't feel like sleeping now, he just wanted to watch her, like he used her. He just wanted to see her roll over and flicker her eyes open to look at him, giving him a sweet smile and telling him to stop. But things had changed.

"I'm going to see the witches tomorrow" Elijah revealed. He had been thinking about it for most of the night.

"Elijah, that's a death wish" Willow had just rest her head when she heard Elijah's words, at first they didn't make sense. But when she replayed them again and again, she finally realised what he meant.

"It isn't a death wish" he shook his head "I need to find out answers and they can't touch me"

"There is only one way I'm going to willingly let you walk out of that door with the knowledge that you're going to see the witches. And that's if I come with you" Willow laid her demands out flat on the table, she didn't beat around the bush.

"No" Elijah shook his head, somehow knowing what she would have suggested... no, not suggested. Demanded. "You know what happened last time?"

"Last time? Don't you mean when you wiped everything from my memory, now I'm stuck trying to live two lives. One for you and one for Bradley?" She asked, raising her eyebrow.

Elijah sighed. "I'm still not going to let you"

"They're using my body just as much as they're using yours, if not more. Don't you think I deserve to know the ins and outs about what's happening to my body. From the primary source, not a secondary one" Willow threw out such a great argument, like she was ready to use that excuse to get what she wanted "So, Elijah please tell me one more time why I can't go, and give me a good reason why"

Elijah rolled his eyes. "You really are something else" he shook his head "fine. We'll go together"

Willow lay back down in bed, finally a wave of sleepiness floored her, she could barely keep her eyes open. And within the blink of an eye, she had drifted into somewhere far beyond this hell.

But Elijah didn't fall asleep. For the rest of the night, he was wide awake, just watching her.
