You're at the store, looking for a dessert for national boyfriend day for Mark. You text him, looking for help.

Y: What are you craving right now?

M: Hmm... idk, maybe something apple and cinnamon? Idc, anything really. Why?

Y: No reason, just asking.

M: Okay?

You walk to the produce section and take about eight apples. Then, you look for the cinnamon and butter. You're going to make this yourself, not just grab an apple pie in a plastic container. You were going to make this from the heart. You drive home, humming along with the radio all the way home.

As you walk in the door, you yell to him,"Happy National Boyfriend Day!"

You get no response. Instead, you hear  muffled stereo, and a not-so-muffled voice. You stand there, listening. You continue to listen, setting your stuff out and starting the recipe. You're rolling the dough when you realize, this is Mark's voice. You smile, setting the dough in the pie tin carefully and grabbing an apple.

You listen to Mark's singing as you skin and cut the apples.

First apple.

I'm only one call away,

Second.

I'll be there to save the day.

Third.

Superman got nothin' on me.

Fourth

I'm only one call away.

Fifth

You can't help but smile and madly blush.

Sixth.

Call me baby,

if you need a friend.

I just wanna give you love.

Come on, come on, come on

Reaching out to you,

So take a chance.

Seventh and eighth

You sprinkle the apple bits into the butter, sugar, cinnamon glaze and stir.

No matter where you go,

You watch the spoon smother the apples in the glaze.

You know you're not alone.

You feel the warmth in his voice and it gives you goosebumps.

You imagine the music playing behind his voice, pouring the apples and glaze into the pie tin, all over the dough.

I'm only one call away,

I'll be there to save the day.

You're scraping the rest in.

Superman got nothin' on me.

I'm only one call away.

By now, you're finishing dough on the top and putting it in the oven.

Come along with me and don't be scared

I just wanna set you free

Come on, come on, come on

You and me can make it anywhere.

For now, we can stay here for a while, ay

'Cause you know, I just wanna see you smile.

You clean up, putting your things away and walking down the hall to the stairs. His voice is louder, the stereo accompanying his voice. You stand there for a few seconds, closing your eyes and taking in the smoothness and deepness of his voice.

No matter where you go,

You'll know you're not alone.

Creeping up the stairs silently, you continue to listen. Once you get up, you start to sing back, stopping him just as he starts.

I'm only one call away,

I'll be there to save the day.

Mark freezes, his back to you.

Superman got nothin' on me.

I'm only one call away.

Mark slowly turns around, seeing you and you both start to sing at the same time.

When you're weak I'll be strong,

He reaches out to you.

I'm gonna keep holdin' on.

You take his hand.

Now don't you worry, it won't be long, Darling.

Mark adorably spins you around.

And when you feel like hope is gone,

You giggle while singing.

Just run into my arms.

Now, your voices are perfectly harmonized. You're both smiling while singing.

I'm only one call away,

You both slow your movements, staring into each other's eyes.

I'll be there to save the day.

Mark's hand moves up to your cheek.

Superman got nothin' on me

He softly caresses it.

I'm only one, I'm only one call away,

You smile, your arms around his neck.

I'll be there to save the day.

Mark gently sways you side to side.

Superman got nothin' on me.

You lean in with him.

I'm only one call away.

Your gazes are locked as you both softly sing the last line.

Your lips are barely touching.

I'm only one call away.
