Being separated from Lauren wasn't a joke. But I always tried to keep her words in my mind so I wouldn't feel so lonely with my family. This was my family, and I should be happy to have the opportunity to be with them—to have the opportunity to actually be there for them. Since the break, I've been spending lots of time with my siblings. Last Monday I took Cailux for a swim in our pool, then the next day, the three of us visited Dad in the hospital he was working at now with Uncle Wilmer. However, I spent my Wednesday night with a couple of old friends here in Miami, but the next day, I went out with Sailor to the mall to shop some clothes. Apparently, Lauren was right about my younger brother getting a girlfriend soon. How she knew about that, I didn't know, but Sailor asked me to go with him because he wanted my opinion on the clothes he'd pick for his date on Friday. So, my Friday consisted of me having some time with Sky in my room and just playing around with him on the yard. Actually, I took him out every day in the morning. I was giving him a walk and I could take my jog.
Every night, Lauren would call me before we both go to bed since we had the same timezone. I missed her every single day and it was hard getting used to not having her around but also with time passing by, we managed to fall into some sort of a routine and it somehow made me feel better. I knew she was, too, because we seemed happier when she was talking to me unlike the first week where she seemed like she would cry in any minute.
It was another Tuesday and I woke up at 5 in the morning to have a jog and take Sky with me. After slipping my shoes on, I ran down to the kitchen and drank some water. I went to get Sky on his leash and headed out of the house. With the phone in my hand, I took a couple of pictures as I jogged and sent them to Lauren, giving her a good morning text. I realized that she was still probably asleep so I slid my phone back to its confinement. After a good 2 hours, I went back to the house and gave Sky some water and fed him as well before heading in the kitchen.
"Good morning," Daniel said when he saw me, standing in front of the stove as he seemed to be cooking breakfast.
Dad thought about letting go of Daniel since he didn't want him to feel like we were his obligation. But he realized that the boy didn't have anywhere else to go. He didn't know much about his relatives and Dad thought that we needed someone to look after Cailux when no one was around so he didn't. Besides, Daniel made it clear that he didn't feel like he was serving us anymore. He was doing whatever he was for himself since he said that we're the closest to family that he'll ever have.
"Morning," I said as I grinned, getting myself a glass. I looked over Daniel's shoulder and saw that he was cooking my favorite bacon, making me smile immediately. I poured myself some water from the fridge and after downing it, I snatched a strip of bacon from the plate where Daniel placed the cooked ones and scolded me. I only laughed, already dropping the strip in my mouth as I made my way out. "Thanks, Daniel!"
By the moment I was finished taking a shower, Lauren was already video calling me. Smiling to myself, I answered her call and placed her on a table I had in my walk-in closet, making sure that she'd still see me as I moved around.
"Good morning, princess," I said, smiling at her through the camera. "How's your sleep?"
Her view showed her bed and she stretched luxuriously, letting out a groan that sent shivers down my spine for some reason. She smiled goofily at the camera and I couldn't help but do the same.
