Bang! Bang! Bang! "Open the door now or we'll bash it down!" Panic seeped through the room as Jaycees eyes widened in fear. "Do you think...?" She left the question hanging in the air. If it's the Word Squad, that means I'm going next! Kalani, shaking in fear, stood up and went to open the door when Chloe ran infront of her.

"No. Please. You. Can't!" Chloe was breathless and tears were forming. Kalani looked around the room and spotted a window and her eyes grew. "Come over here!" She whispered. Jaycee and Chloe saw what she was looking at and instantly got it. They ran over and Jaycee climbed out first. "Still looking out for herself." Kalani muttered. They finally got out and ran as the Word Squad was left with a little surprise.

Puffed and out of breath, the girls stopped for a second. They were ironically out the front of a police station. Kalani's life flashed before her eyes. Her first steps, her first mouthful of peas, her first word, loosing her first tooth, her first day of school, her first kiss and getting the threat. Her parents were by her each step of the way and she couldn't risk hurting them by leaving them.

A powerful, courageous Kalani overtook her and she marched into the police station. She slammed the door shut and everybody's eyes were on her. "Is it...?" An officer whispered to another. "Hi, what's the emergency?" They asked politely. "I'm being threatened and I want to catch them!" The police officers eyes widened.

"Officer McCeart, please take miss Hilliker to room 36. Everyone else, case 11 is closed!" All the officers moved quickly, some going this way and that. Kalani was smiling. "Y-you know who did it? And you just needed me to help prove it? Oh my goodness! I need to go get Chloe!" Kalani went to run out the front door to tell the great news but then she was caught.

"Kalani Hilliker, you are under arrest for threatening three innocent girls and killing two." Kalani was gobsmacked. "No effing way! They tricked me." She started to yell and kick, "They're setting me up!" Another officer ran out the front and in a couple of minutes he ran back in with Chloe and Jaycee.

Chloe looked emotionless and a silent tear fell down her cheek. But to Kalani, it didn't look like she was crying about the situation but about something else she couldn't quite put her finger on. Jaycee was crying and screaming to let her go but the officer held his guard and wouldn't let her go.

"Please don't call my mum! She'll kill me! Please! I can't go back there!" The officers took her away to a private room and Kalani didn't see her again for the rest of the night. She looked around and then saw a nurse talking to Chloe and she was upset stating that she didn't understand.

Kalani got close enough to hear part of the conversation. "I'm fine. No, she's not!" She said in a nasty tone of voice. "She's a nasty little b*tch and needs to stop. Nobody likes her. Not even herself." Then back in her normal voice she said, "I'm so sorry about that. I-I don't know what came over me-" the nurse cut her off and sadly smiled at the officers. "We need to take her to the mental institute. The kid's crazy."

Kalani felt like she had everything underneath taken from her and she couldn't breath. She didn't know if she was standing or sitting or what she was doing. But she did know one thing; she was going to jail for something she didn't do.

And she would still get killed by the b*tch who did it.

Kalani sat in the cell all alone, cold. She shivered for a second when she heard a noise. She looked up in surprise and saw her parents with an officer. "Two minutes." They said before walking out. "How could you? You had us fooled!" Her mum yelled. "Listen-" her dad cut Kalani off. "This is outrageous behaviour and I hope they lock you up for good!"

"Listen!" Kalani yelled. "I didn't do it. I'm being set up." She stated simply. "Wow!" Her mum said in annoyance. "I came all the way down here to figure out why and now you're just lying to me?" Her dad yelled. "We're going." Said her mum as she grabbed her dads hand and stormed out.

Tears brimmed Kalani's eyes as she threw her pillow across the room. "Why won't anyone believe me?" She screamed as she sobbed and sobbed until her pillow was so wet that she could ring it out.

She sighed and decided it was time to go to sleep. She closed her eyes and darkness was nice at first, but scary afterwards. They could be here, she thought anxiously. They could be watching me sleep or they could be plotting my revenge or anything! She heard a tap on the window and jumped.

It was silent for a couple more seconds then she heard another tap. "Psst!" They said. She immediately knew it wasn't the Word Squad but someone else. "It's Chloe you dipsh*t now hurry up!" Kalani ran out of her bed and carefully climbed out the window. They ran out the back of the police station and sat on the cold grass.

"Well, this is nice." Said Chloe. Kalani grabbed a piece of grass and started to rip it. "As far as nice goes." She said sarcastically. "You know, I never imagined starting this year off for it to end like this. Getting threatened, two people being killed and all that. But, I guess you could say we got one good thing out of it. We became friends." Chloe said as she smiled.

"They're taking me away tomorrow. To the city's mental hospital, which is why I wanted my last night of freedom." She picked up a strand of grass and ripped it. Kalani sighed. "Well, I hope you'll be ok, you've been really nice to me even when I've been a dog to you. And I appreciate that." Chloe smiled at her then lied down on the gras and Kalani joined her.

"Look at all them stars." She pointed to an especially bright star. "One day, when I die soon, I want to become a star. I'll be free in the sky and I'll be able to see everything. It will be beautiful from up there and not hideous as it is down here." Kalani thought for a moment then nodded to.

"When we die, we'll become stars together."

But little did they know one of them was going to become a star before the sun rose.

{ a bittersweet moment ruined by my viscous mind, yep, that sounds like a Cheyenne story}
