Chloe looked at herself in the mirror and rearranged her flower crown. She sighed and looked at her black dress ( ^^^ ) and shoes. She grabbed her purse and called out to her dad. Chloe's mum was meeting them at the service which Chloe found a bit suspicious.
They arrived at the service in no time and Chloe caught up with Maddie and Kalani. "Hey guys! Nothing new? No clues?" She whispered. The girls shook their heads and muttered. "Everyone's going inside." Kalani said as she turned and walked inside.
"What's wrong?" Chloe asked Maddie. "She's still upset about the other day and didn't you hear?" Maddie exclaimed quietly. Chloe shook her head. "Brandon attempted suicide and his parents said that it wasn't the first time!" Chloe's eyes widened and then she sadly shook her head.
"But he's in the hospital, right?" Maddie nodded as they walked into the church. "But he's unconscious and the doctors say he might not wake up. And Kalani won't tell me why he attempted." Chloe sighed.
"Today we are here celebrating the life of Kendall K Vertes."

The Word squad sat out the front of the church. "He's trying to kill himself to get out of it!" Nia exclaimed. "Well, he's smart." The leader said. "Death do us part!" The leader chanted and soon everyone joined in quietly.
"Right, what's our next move?" Josh said. He had a massive crush on the leader and wanted to impress them in any way. "I say we get rid of Maddie. And then show Chloe what her mums been up to!" Another hungry member said.
"Aww, boohoo, Chloe will be heartbroken!" Everyone acted like babies and pretended to cry. Then they started to laugh. "Right, Josh, Nia and I will go inside but we have to go in at different times and sit in different rows. One in front, one behind and one at the very back."
Nia and Josh nodded as Josh went inside and sat infront of the girls. "You guys, outside. One at every window or something. Figure it out." The rest scattered as the leader walked next to Josh.
They slid their hand down his arm and softly kissed his cheek. "You're doing great! Once they're all gone, we can be!" Josh tried to kiss them on the lips but failed as they walked into the church, sitting behind them.
Josh was upset as he really liked them. He sighed. "Kendall was born on the fifth of May, 2000, becoming the third child of the Vertes family."

After the service was over, Chloe walked with Kalani outside. "Hey, I'm so sorry." Chloe said squeezing her hand. "It could've been him." Kalani whispered shakily. "What?" Chloe asked softly. "It could've been him in that coffin." She said as a silent tear rolled down her cheek.
Chloe put a comforting arm around her. "But you have to look at the positive; he's not, he's in hospital and there's a ten percent chance he'll wake up!" By this time Kalani was in hysterics. Okay, maybe I'm not so good at comforting as I thought I was. She thought.
The only times she had to comfort were when Nia lost a sporting game or something.
Nia.
Betrayal.
Don't go that way! She thought. "Cmon, let's go get some food!" Chloe said realising how hungry she was. They made their way over and Kalani went to her parents. Maddie appeared out of nowhere. "How'd it go?" Chloe motioned at Kalani in tears with her parents and Maddie slowly nodded.
"Ok! I guess you're not that good at comforting as I thought!" Maddie and Chloe laughed. They talked some more and arrived in another building with sandwiches and drinks in a table. Chloe filled up her plate when she saw her nervous dad come over.
"Chloe have you seen your mother?" His hands were shaking and he was anxious. "No, I can go look for you if you want?" He nodded. "Thanks. Text me when you find her." Chloe turned to Maddie. "Can you hold this? Thanks!" Without a chance to answer, Maddie slowly grabbed the plate as Chloe ran.
She looked in the bathrooms, around the food room and outside. She came back inside and slid down a wall and sighed. Her mother had been blind out late at night and now she'd disappeared.
Her mother held the family together! From packing school lunches to washing the clothes, she was always there for them. Chloe had a gut feeling, which was making her feel sick, that her mum was cheating.
"Where are you?" She whispered. Just then, she saw a broom closet door open an inch. Chloe tiptoed over and slowly opened the door. She saw a horrible sight. Something no one her age should see. Her mum and Mr. Vertes were making out. Chloe collapsed into a mass of tears and she felt like everything next happened in slow motion.
Her dad ran over and Chloe screamed at him not to look but he did. He was shocked and took a step back. Then he moved forward and slapped Christi. Chloe felt like she was being pulled backwards and realised she was. They dragged her outside onto the cool grass and handed her her water bottle.
"Thank-" Chloe looked up and saw Nia. Not in her Word squad uniform, but in a black dress. Chloe threw the water as she thought Nia poisoned it. "I was just trying to help. No one should have to see that, or go through it!" Nia exclaimed. Chloe tried sitting up but felt dizzy. "Chloe, I know we're not on good terms but you need to lie down!" Nia said in a commanding voice.
Chloe obeyed as she felt faint and Nia ran to get Chloe's water. The police were called and soon enough, Mr. Vertes and Christi were arrested for adultery.
{ A/N I know you can't faint lying down but I just felt that it tied in with the situation and I have fainted many times so this is what happens} Chloe heard ringing in her ears and couldn't hear the calls of her parents arguing or Mr and Mrs. Vertes arguing. So couldn't hear anything, which was actually a good thing.
It was a sunny day but in Chloe's vision it looked dark. She saw one dark dot, then another and another until her vision was clouded and she fainted.
