Kalani was shocked at Paige's death, but proud that she was about to figure this whole thing out. Kalani had raced home with her mom and was now flopped on her bed, trying to figure it out.
"Any suspicions? Suspects?" She recalled Maddie saying. Kalani thought over her encounter with the figure and tried to remember any clues. The fake nails! Kalani jumped off her bed and grabbed out a notebook.

Kalani quickly got out her phone and texted the other girls. She named the group chat 1000 words and quickly sent a picture of what she'd written down. In no time Maddie texted back. ( M- Maddie K- Kalani C- Chloe K- Kendall)
M- Just had an encounter with 1000 words, no clues or traces.
K- I remembered my encounter and they have fake nails!
M- Right, so it's a girl?
C- Hey guys! Hope you're ok Mads
M- Yeah I'm fine, just let me send a pic of the note.
Kalani patiently waited for the picture. Tap tap! Kalani raced over to her window and found Brandon standing there. She opened it and walked over to her bed.
K- Gtg
"What?" She snapped. Brandon looked a little crushed, but brushed it off. "I wanted to discuss what colour dress you're wearing because I need to buy my tuxedo soon so..." Kalani thought about it. She hadn't even got a dress yet so she shrugged her shoulders and said. "I don't know... We can go shopping if you like?" She suggested. He nodded as Kalani grabbed her purse.
"Wait, right now?" He said. Kalani nodded then smiled, "Why? Don't you wanna hang around an awesome, talented-" Brandon rolled his eyes cutting Kalani off. "Alright! Just let me grab my wallet, meet at the front entrance in ten?" He asked. Kalani nodded as he climbed out her window.
Kalani fixed her skirt and lifted her head in a confident way. "You're never getting rid of me," she whispered, imagining the figure. "Never."

Kalani walked to the entrance of the mall. "Hey!" She called as Brandon turned off his phone from playing candy crush. He smiled back as they walked in together. "Shall we?" He said playfully gesturing her to link arms with him. "We shall!" She laughed linking arms.
They walked into random stores including cotton on kids, Lovisa, Justice and laughed as they posed in front of Victoria Secret. "Is that a sushi bar?" Brandon said as they ran over to a sushi train.
Kalani hurriedly grabbed a seat and waited for a chicken and avo one to come past. She knew it was Brandon's favourite as well so they competed for it. It came around the corner and Kalani lunged forward to grab the treat. She wasn't fast enough as Brandon grabbed it off the plate and took a big bite.
Kalani scrunched her nose and playfully hmmph'd like a toddler. Brandon laughed as Kalani sadly grabbed a plain cucumber one. They ate the delicacy in silence, but good silence.
Once finished, Kalani checked her phone for the time. 5:30pm flashed at the top of her screen. "Brandon, we better go..." She said looking at him devour his sushi. He saw Kalani and he looked like he was a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar. She laughed as he quickly finished.
As they exited, Kalani remembered what they came for and asked if they could go tomorrow. Brandon said yes as they hopped in the car.
The highway was busy as adults were coming home from work. But little did the friends realise, that a someone was in the car behind them. They had set up a bug to put in Kalani's phone so they got all of her messages.
"They will never figure it out, you're far too good for them!" Josh said to the figure. "As long as you keep the plan, we will never be discovered, darling!" She tapped her fake nails against the steering wheel. "I always liked Kalani. But in this year, she's gone a bit stiff. Let's loosen her up a bit, shall we?" She laughed.

"How about we try tomorrow?" Brandon laughed as they pulled up at Kalani's house. Kalani nodded and smiled and gave him a big hug. "But those photos were pretty amazing, weren't they?" She said posing. He laughed. "Bye Kalani!" She entered her house.
"How was it, dear?" Kalani smiled to indicate good. "Can you go upstairs and do your homework?" Kalani was already halfway up the stairs.
"Boo!" The figure said. Kalani jumped and tried to steady her breaths. "I just came back from talking to Maddie. She's so tough, isn't she? Oh and what about Chloe? She's so strong! And Kendall! Don't you just envy her?" Kalani waited to see where this was going.
"But, one of them is a traitor, Kalani. You must be very careful about who you tell your secret to." Kalani glared. "That's in the past! Can't you look at the present? Maybe we could've been friends if you didn't threaten me!" She yelled.
The figure was taken back and was at a loss of words for a minute. They then dropped the piece of paper and ran out the window. Kalani bent down to pick it up.

Kalani quickly snapped a picture and sent it to the group chat.
K- they just came but I'm alright🙃
M- oh sh*t I forgot! I'll send the photo right now!
Kalani hated Maddie's excess swearing but Kalani knew that she had to work together to stop this.
The photo came through and Kalani's eyes widened. The figure had only typed Kalani's notes out, not Maddie's. Kalani tried to figure out who's handwriting it was by remembering her peers notebooks.
K- Guys, I think I know who it is... I'm not entirely sure gtg
Kalani told her parents she was going out and she went to Brandon's house, in a meltdown. "I n-need your c-car!" She cried. Brandon looked panicked but knew that he was better off not asking any questions.
He threw her the keys and she ran into the car. She started the engine and roared down the street, getting weird looks from pedestrians. Kalani drive all the way to the other side of town which wasn't nearly as nice as hers.
She was almost at the street and she was rehearsing what to say. "Why? Why me a-and Maddie and C-Chloe a-an-a-and Kendall!" She was in a mass of tears that were blurring her vision.
Then, Kalani saw a car coming straight for her. The two cars merged together and one car left with a few scratches, no injuries. Were as the other, was rushed into hospital with more wounds than she deserved.
