Chloe Lukasiak's eyes widened at Kalani's text message. Could they really put an end to this right now? It had been fifteen minutes since she had texted and nobody had said anything.
Sighing, she got up from her bed and checked the calander, 4th of October. It was six days away from the ball and Chloe still didn't have a date. She really didn't want to go but, she had a sneaking suspicion that something was going to happen.
Her phone beeped and she raced over to check it.
Kk- guys, check the news
Chloe raced downstairs and saw her mother watching the news. She sat next to her and turned it up. "And now for our next breaking news this evening on the fourth of October, 2016." The fake looking news reporter said.
"At around four thirty this afternoon, there has been a fatal car accident involving a sixteen year old and an unknown. The other drivers car is still here and has little to no marks. If anyone knows who the other driver is, please contact police. Also, it's just in that the driver with fatal injuries is Kalani Hilliker. Everybody please, pray for that poor family!"
Chloe gasped as the other driver was their threatener. Chloe saw footage of Kalani being lifted into an ambulance truck and she raced up the stairs.
She grabbed her purse and keys and drove to the hospital. It was a short drive and she arrived quickly, running to the desk. "Hi! I'm looking for Kalani Hilliker?" She said sweetly.
"Are you immediate family?" The receptionist asked. "Uh, yeah! Cousins," she said casually. You were always the sneaky one, she heard a voice in the back of her head. She shook it off as she looked at the nurse with hopeful eyes.
"Sorry, other family members will be allowed to visit tomorrow," she said. "Next!" She called as Chloe got pushed to the side. Chloe wasn't giving up, she was going to find Kalani.
She raced down the halls and tried to find another nurse. She ended up finding a nurse with all the food and decided to ask her. "Excuse me," she said as the nurse looked at her. "Do you know what room Kalani Hilliker is in? I'm her sister," she added.
The nurse looked at the food order sheet and nodded. She lead Chloe to Kalani's room and gave the person next to her their dinner. They quickly left leaving Chloe to say anything.
"Hey Kalani!" Chloe said sitting next to her. "I feel so bad for you, you don't deserve this!" Chloe exclaimed.
She heard footsteps then heard a click. "Hey Kalani! I feel so bad for you, you don't deserve this!" A recorded version of her voice said. Chloe whipped her head around and was faced with the figure.
"You're not as sneaky as I am, Chloe!" The figure singsonged inspecting their nails. "Why did you hurt her? She didn't do anything!" She exclaimed quietly as other people were around. "So, Kendall has learned, Kalani has learned, and soon you will too!" They stated.
Chloe then remembered her deal, and asked them. "Well, I've found out who the other people are, can I have my extra hundred words?" The figure laughed. "Nope!" They said popping the p. Chloe was in shock. She had been depending on those words so she used most of them up. "Geez, your friend was just in a car accident and you're complaining about not getting your hundred words? Um, selfish much!" They laughed.
"Why?" Chloe whispered. "Why did you chose me?" She said louder. "For the fun of it and you were involved that night, dear. You know, Chloe, sports women aren't crazy," they said laughing. Then it hit her, she knew who the figure was.
Jaycee Wilkins.
"Jaycee?" She said. The figure looked taken back, then quickly tried to leave. "Stop!" Chloe said running over to pull them back. "Answer me." Chloe said sternly. "No, it's not Jaycee. You killed her, remember?" Chloe imagined them rolling their eyes.
"But, only Jaycee knew that!" She exclaimed. "Surprise suprise! I was there to! I was there when Good Girl Maddie kidnapped her, when Druggo Kalani bashed her, Nerdy Kendall drugged her and crazy Chloe killed her. I saw it all, Chloe." They said.
Chloe was stunned for a second as she sat back on Kalani's bed. She tried to find anything suspicious about the figure, and found nothing.
So Chloe examined them. They had pulled the curtain around so no one could hear and they were now standing near Kalani's oxygen support. They were leaning on it, staring at Chloe. Then, she saw something.
The voice recorder.
Chloe lunged forward and grabbed it, pulling their hoodie off. All that was left was a dark skinned girl in a black singlet top. Her hair was black and she was someone Chloe knew all too well.
It was her best friend, Nia Fraizer.
Chloe took short breaths as the realisation hit her. Nia is the one threatening me, she thought, puffing. She's going to kill me when I say one thousand one words, Chloe's breathing was like she had just run a marathon.
"How could you?" She screamed, not caring that she was waking up patients. Nia was in shock herself, but knew how much trouble she was going to be in. "I asked you a question!" Chloe screamed. Nia simply looked up at her and whispered quietly.
"I knew you were going to do something evil, so I followed you that night. I saw Maddie with a body bag over her back, carrying it into the basement of an abandoned house. I had seen you go in earlier so I sneaked inside.
"Maddie left, thinking she was leaving the girl for dead, not realising that in a couple of seconds, Jaycee would be murdered. Then Kalani, who had been on drugs at the time, went into her suppliers house. She saw Jaycee and thought that was her supplier. She begged for the drugs and when Jaycee tried to explain, she bashed her until she was almost unconscious.
"Kalani then left and never was able to go into that house again, as it was under investigation. So she cleared up, and hasn't taken them. Then Kendall came in as she was following Jaycee as she needed to tutor her. She was trying to prove that Jaycee had better things to do, so she followed her and recorded it.
"But when she saw what the others had done, she found some of the drugs the suppliers had and put it on a face cloth. She drugged her because she was planning on carrying her to the hospital, but heard footsteps and ran. When Jaycee woke up, you killed her. How could you, Chloe?" She asked with tears down her face.
Chloe was in shock, finding out the full story. Then Nia turned back into crazy mode and gave an evil smile. "By the way, I'm not the leader, I'm just a helper. Don't think you've solved the mystery yet! It's far from over!" Nia said, walking out as Chloe was left bewildered on Kalani's hospital bed. Before being shooed away by the nurses and was taken home.
Only to have Kendall walk straight past her, into the hospital.
