Chapter 55: Court

Today's the day . Today Jordan appears in court . In 2 days Jordan will leave this town . She'll be in California . No more JM . No more family drama . No more threats or beatings . She'll be safe . She'll be free .

"C'mon Jord, it's time . You have to get up ." I try to shake her awake .

"5 more minutes ." She mumbles .

"Jordan Nicole, get your lazy ass up. NOW !" I order . I receive a pillow thrown in my face .

"Thanks for that ."

"No problem ."

"Jordan, don't you wanna send that bastard to jail .?" I ask already knowing the answer .

"Yes ."

"Then we can't be late ."

"Ugh . Fine !" She groans .

In two hours everyone is ready to go . Jordan and I aren't he only ones here who have to testify. Me for the same reason as when I had to be questioned . Ross, Rocky and Sierra are allowed to go and they will of course . We all get dressed in nice clothing and are on our way to the court house .

---Time of Court---

"Your honor, I call my client, Jordan Harless, to the stand ." Our lawyer Susan Anthony speaks .

I've already testified, so has April and a few others . Stormie , Mark and Ally were so generous to hire a lawyer for this . April or Jamie couldn't afford it . Neither could Jordan . Jordan had a just got a job at Rue 21 which we call Forever 21 in California . The thing is Jordan can't keep her job when she's moving so she had to quit . She didn't even receive her first paycheck yet. When we take her to LA, the girls and I are gonna look for jobs . Rydel doesn't need one but since she knows every shop owner in 3 different malls, she said she'd put in a good word for us . I'm not sure where I wanna work yet . Ross said he can get me a part in season 5 of Austin and Ally . Yeah, they're on the 5th season now .

In fact, the fans don't ship 'Ruara' anymore . On the show Austin and Ally tried their relationship again . Unfortunately Austin found someone else and Ally did to so they vowed to never try again . The fans were crushed but the directors thought it'd be best since Ross and I are getting married and Laura is in a relationship with Noah, the guy that played Dallas in the first season. They didn't want any conflict .

"Katie ? Katie ?" Ross whispers .

"Yeah, what ?" I mumble .

"You zoned out ." Ross silently giggles .

"John Michael to the stand please ." Susan orders .

JM takes the stand and is accounted in .

"Tell me what happened the date of question ."

"The little bitch came home with food and attitude . I was sick of it so I put her in place ." He simply states . The amount of words spoken makes my face heat . He best her into a hospital because he was 'sick' of her 'attitude' . Well all of us are 'sick' of his 'drinking' but it's not like we go and point a gun at his sorry ass .

"Please, don't use profanity to describe this situation ." Susan requests .

"Whatever ." He shrugs .

"Anyway, you've admitted to the violent abuse of your step daughter .?" The topic is pushed .

"Yes . I know what I did, she knows what I did . No reason to lie about it ."

"The jury will now meet for a final decision . " The judge rules .

15 minutes pass before the jury comes back in .

"The jury and I have decided that the defendant, John Michael, is guilty to the following crimes ." He head juror announces , every releases the breathe they've been holding since the man started .

The juror starts naming that charges JM are charged of . "Child abuse, direct assault through threats, bullying, alcoholic violence and the charges through the drugs that were found later on in the house . "

"The defendant will spend 6 years of prison and owes the plaintiff the amount of $2,348.98 for the hospital bills and owes the Lynch family the a mouth of $643 dollars for the bill of her lawyer." The judge rules . We had to pay for his lawyer to . The only reason we did was because if he didn't have a lawyer then we couldn't go to court as soon as optioned . At least he'll pay us back.

---After Court---

"You okay ?" Sierra asks Jordan .

"Perfect ." Jordan replies . For the first time in a month she smiles . I know she feels safe now .

"Guys, our flights in 3 hours . We should get going ." Rocky directs .

"You'll love it ." I assure .

"I know ." She smiles again .
