Aria:
"What happened to your arm?" Luke asked.
"Nothing," I said as I sat down at the lunch table.
"You've been dodging me all day. You can't ignore me forever."
He sat across from me and for once, removed his hoodie from his head, and unzipped his jacket.
I saw his bare arms. I had never been so excited to see someone's arms for the second time in my life. I noticed some words in black ink on his right forearm.
"In case you're wondering, it says, 'I don't wanna be in love.' That's why I wear a jacket all the time. If Dakota saw, she would tell our mum instantly. I got it with Mike, Calum, and Ashton."
"So, you don't want to be in love I'm assuming?"
"It's some Good Charlotte lyrics to this one song but yeah, I think all of that is bullshit."
"What makes you think that?"
"People claim to be in love all the time and if they are so in love then why do people break up and get divorced everyday?"
"Geez..."
Luke laughs and shrugs.
"Soo..." he trails off.
"You, Michael, Calum, and Ashton all have the same tattoo?"
"Yeah, it was kind of bros before hoes pact."
I nodded and looked down at my arm.
"You ready to tell me what happened to your arm yet?"
He pulled out a brown paper bag and handed it to me.
"No... what's this?"
"You really have to stop forgetting to bring your lunch, Aria."
"Oh... you don't have to bring me food everyday."
"Just eat."
I reached in and pulled out strawberries. As I ate, Luke kept his eyes glued to his phone. He wasn't eating.
"Hey, boyfriend ," I cried.
"What, girlfriend ?" he said, putting emphasis on the word.
"Why did you give me your lunch?"
"Because you didn't carry any."
"I'm fine. I can eat when I get home."
"No, you're not. I don't trust you. I'll eat when I get home."
I pushed the brown bag across the table back at him. He gave me an annoyed look and pushed the bag back to me.
"Eat," he demanded.
I pushed the bag back to him and Luke kept his eyes glued on his phone.
"What's on your phone that's so important, Luke?"
"This," he showed me a picture of a deep dish pizza on google images. "I'm lactose intolerant and I have to eat special gross pizza."
"That sucks. What if I made you special pizza but it won't be gross?"
"Good luck."
"Is that a challenge?"
"Yup," a voice says.
I turn around and Luke's friends, Michael and Ashton joined our table. Michael took a seat next to me and Ashton sat on the other side next to Luke.
