Chapter 31

I was moving into my apartment today which is only a few blocks away from school and from mom. Emma decided to come which I'm glad about so I can see her everyday. I quit my other job I had and got one at a little cafe by the school.

"How do you feel being away from Harry?" Kate asked me.

"I miss him like crazy" I laughed "we text each other everyday"

"Ugh I hate you guys sometimes" she laughed "let's go work out now"

"Please!"

We went to hit the gym closest to us. Forgot to mention, Kate moved in with me and also is going to Berkeley. Thank god I won't have to see what it's like to be away from my best friend, I get to live with her. We've been working out more which is good for Kate so she can check guys out at the gym.

"That guy is checking you out" Kate tells me as I glanced at her.

I did a little look over at the guy then looked back at Kate "wow"

"He's hot right!"

"Hmm but I can't. I'm dating Harry"

"Yeah but babe, you're here and he's there"

"Kate, I just can't do that!"

"He's walking over!"

I rolled my eyes and I turned towards the guy "you two are new here aren't you?"

"Yeah, we've been here for a few weeks" I tell him.

"We're going to Berkeley in the fall" Kate then tells him.

"Berkeley huh? That's a great school, I graduated from there two years ago"

Older guy huh? "That's nice" I mumbled.

"I'm going to get some water" I fucking hate Kate right now for leaving me.

"So what's your name?" He asked me.

"Lacey"

"Wow never met a Lacey before"

"It's a unique name" I crossed my arms.

"Well I'm Daniel... Maybe I'll see you again" he smirked as he eyed my body.

"Well Daniel, maybe you will or maybe you won't"

I walked over to Kate "I can not believe you left me alone with him!" I pushed her.

"So?"

"His name is Daniel and he said maybe I'll see you again and he smirked" I rolled my eyes.

"Oh stop it Lacey, you love that shit"

We got back home and showered before heading to my mom's. My phone rang.

"Kate, tell my mom I out here, I'll be in a second"

She nodded as I sat down on the steps "Hello?"

"Hey beautiful"

"Babe!" I got excited and Harry chuckled "I miss you"

"I miss you too, how's California?"

"Absolutely beautiful but it's missing you"

"Well I'm missing you here next to me"

"Same, oh my god Haz! So Kate and I went to guy and she left me alone with a guy"

"What?"

"It's okay though babe, I wasn't interested in him because I have you"

"Good Lace, I don't like you talking to other guys"

"Yeah and I don't like you talking to other girls but you don't hear me saying shit, we just talked that's it"

"Yeah but I'm here and you're there Lacey"

"And what?! You can't trust me?"

"I'm not saying that Lacey" he got serious.

"You know what I should go, bye Haz" I hanged up and groaned as I got up and walked into my mother's house.

"How's Harry sweetie?" My mom handed me an ice tea.

"I wouldn't know, we had a fight"

"You told him about Daniel?"

"Of course I did Kate, he's my boyfriend"

Kate shook her hand "anyway mom, where's Jim?"

"He's working"

"Lacey! Can we go for a walk?" Emma asked me.

"Of course princess, we'll be back"

I held her hand as we walked around the block "I'm scared"

"What about Em?"

"Living with mom"

"Why? She's going to take care of you and you'll be safe and I'm only a few blocks away"

"Are you sure?" She looked up at me.

"Of course I'm sure, I'm not going to let anything happen you okay?" I picked her up "you are my baby girl"

She kissed my cheek and we went back to mom's.

"We need to go get some stuff from target so we'll going to go now"

I looked at Emma "if you need anything, call me okay baby?"

"Okay"

I kissed her cheek then said bye to my mom. Kate and I walked to Target then walked home. I stopped in front of my apartment when I saw Harry.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"Lacey, I didn't mean to hurt you... I do trust you it's just I don't like you being so far from me"

"Why don't we go upstairs?" Kate suggested.

I nodded and I didn't speak to Harry until we got up to the apartment. Kate put away the stuff as Harry and I went to my room.

"Um do you want something to drink?" I asked him.

"Um water would be fine"

I left Harry and went to get him a water bottle "hear him out Lace, you love him"

"I know but I can't be doing this if this keeps happening"

I went back to Harry and gave him a water bottle "babe, you know I love you right?" I kneeled in front of him and grabbed his hands.

"Of course I do Lacey, it's just this distance"

"I know but we have to make it work now"

"I know" he sighed and pressed his forehead against mine "I'm sorry babe"

"You came all this just to talk about this in person" I looked at him.

"That and I missed my beautiful girlfriend"

I stood up and cupped his face "oh my handsome boyfriend you are nuts"

He laughed and wrapped his arms around me "love me Lacey!" He yelled.

I laughed "I do babe, I do" he pulled me down on to the bed.

I laughed "we can make this work Harry, we just need to trust each other"

"I know babe, I know. I think I'm going to go work out"

"You want me to come with you?" I asked him as we got up.

"No I'll be back"

I nodded as he left "so?"

"We're okay" I told Kate as we made dinner.

Harry eventually came home, showered then ate "you place is amazing Lace"

"Thanks" I smiled.

We cuddled up in bed "I can't believe you're here"

"Me too" he laughed "I can get used to this coming home to you"

"Me too Haz"
