Chapter 32

This is the day I've been dreading for about like two years since I've dated Harry. Emma stood with my mother while I flew back home to be able to say bye Harry as he goes off to basic training.

"So all these other guys are leaving too?" I asked.

"Looks like it sweetie" Anne nodded.

I was at a table with Anne, Robin and Gemma. Harry was doing some paper work.

"This is crazy"

"Yeah" Gemma nodded.

Harry walked back in and sat down next to me as he grabbed my hand "finished the paperwork Harry?" Robin asked.

"For now yeah"

"So we just sit here until you leave?" I asked him.

"Basically yeah babe"

I sighed and kissed his cheek "okay"

We just talked about to pass the time. I looked over to see guys with their parents, sisters, brothers, wives, and kids.

"What are you thinking about beautiful?"

"Those guys that are leaving, their leaving their wives and kids. I can't imagine what they must be feeling"

"Must be hard" I look over at Harry.

"Yeah" I nodded as he was still holding my hand.

It was lunchtime so we got out of the building and went to get some food on the base. Then came back and ate then Harry went off again to do something.

"Lacey sweetie" I looked up at Anne "are you excited for college?"

"Um yeah" I smiled "I am"

"How's Emma?"

"She's good, she's staying with Kate" I lied. They don't know about my mother and I rather not go into detail about that plus I don't think my mom would like other people to know about it.

"That's good" Anne nodded.

"Yeah, I've gotten a job already plus I know one of the administrators. She knew my mother when she went to Berkeley"

"Wow, isn't that something" she smiled.

"You mother would be so proud of you Lacey" Robin said.

"Thanks Robin"

Harry came back "I think we're leaving already"

"What?!" We all got up as Harry went around saying goodnight as a just in case.

He came up to me and smiled as he push my hair behind my ear "how am I going to say bye to you?"

"Don't" I grabbed his hand "I love you Harry"

"I love you too beautiful, I'll call and text when I can okay?"

"Okay"

Turns out Harry didn't leave just yet then a man came in and said for the guys to line up and for the families to stand outside. Gemma grabbed my hand as we went outside, there were black vans parked in front of the building. Each van was going to a different airport and there were like 10 guys to each van. We watched as guys walked out in line and got into the car. I stood close to the front because I had to say bye to Harry. I spotted him and the tears were streaming down my face. I quickly grabbed him and pressed his forehead against mine.

"Don't forget me soldier, okay? I love you"

"I love you too"

He walked into the van as we waved to him. I blew him a kiss and he pretended to catch it. I laughed as Gemma's hand found mine. The door closed and went off. We slowly walked to the car and I leaned on Gemma as I cried. We were all really emotional. We went back to Harry's house and I walked up to his room. I felt numb, like this wasn't even real. I grabbed one of his pillows and cuddled up to it as I smelled it.

"Lacey baby come down!"

I got up and put the pillow down as I walked into the kitchen. They were gathered around the phone.

"You're at the airport?" Anne asked him as calmly as she could.

"Yeah, we're waiting" just to hear his voice killed me "Where's Lacey?"

They looked at me as Gemma grabbed the phone and came to me "she's here Harry, she's just..."

"I know" he finished "Baby, I love you okay? Don't worry about me and kill it in college okay? I want you to focus on yourself and I will call you when I can"

I grabbed the phone and put it off the speaker "I love you Harry, so much baby"

"I know Lace, I know... I was thinking"

"What baby?"

"Maybe this isn't a good idea" he sighed "this is what I didn't want for you"

I walked away "are you breaking up with me?" My voice cracked.

"Lacey, I can't do this to you. I just can't, you'll be waiting by the phone until I call. I need you to focus on school, your mom and Emma and yourself"

"I can't fucking believe you right now!"

"I have to go"

I sighed "we aren't done ass"

"I know we aren't"

He hung up and I gave the phone back to Robin "what happened Lacey?" Anne took a step towards me.

"Um" I looked into her eyes "I should head home now"

"Lacey" she grabbed my hand.

"He broke up with me" I sighed "said it was the for best, um listen I just want to say I love you guys and you've always been like a family to me"

I said bye to them then got on a plane as soon as I can. I was supposed to stay the night but it was just unbearable at this point. Kate picked me up and didn't say a word about Harry.

"Emma's okay" she tells me.

I just nodded, we got to the apartment and I laid in the bathtub crying for I don't know how long.

"Where is she?!" I heard my mother's voice as she came into the bathroom.

I covered myself up "oh Lacey baby, are you okay?"

"No" I cried "how can he do this to me mom?! I wanted to be there, I told him that we were going to make it work and he just..."

"Come on stand up, you've been in here for awhile now"

"Mom" I looked up at her.

"Oh Lace! I gave birth to you, please"

I sighed and grabbed her hand as I got up. She wrapped a towel around me and let the water go then we walked to my room.

"You don't have to" I tell her.

"I need to because you need me"

I smiled because it was true, she grabbed a long shirt and put that over me then laid me down in my bed as she ran her hairs through my hair.

"It's going to be okay Lacey, I promise"

"You think so?" I asked her.

"I know so" she smiled and kissed my forehead "I'm going to take Emma and go"

"No" I grabbed her hand "stay please"

She cuddled up to me "of course sweetie"
