Neko!Levi x Reader {AU}

A/n: I finally got to finishing it... Sorry I didn't update sooner... Though on the bright side I had fun at region! Considering the fact I haven't looked at this in awhile and finished it on my phone, I'll edit it later... Thanks for being so patient!

 "I hate to ruin the mood even more than it's already been, but what exactly are we ?" This was the worst question to ask, and undoubtedly the most awkward, but before things furthered I wanted an answer. I watched as he took a deep breath and released a long, weary sigh. "(R/n), I... I don't really know." 'Crap', I thought to myself, "Well, that wasn't very helpful..."  He looked up and glared, but it's sharpness quickly dulled as he went into thought. I walked over the door and curled up next to him, "I... I'll give you time to think about it, rushing you isn't a good thing and I know how it feels so I won't do that to you. I'm sorry for bringing this up all of a sudden..." Levi placed a hand on my head and began to ruffle is softly, "It's okay, there's just a lot on my mind."

Levi's Pov:

 "... there's just a lot on my mind." No kidding. Since Hanji has just spotted us, it won't take her long to move her focus to the "portal". I'll be forced to go back... Without her... I don't think I can bring myself to do such a thing but I have to. I don't want her to see my world, to bring her to a place were she'd most definitely be put in danger... I couldn't forgive myself. She'd understand if I told her right? She... Understands me... Right? Tch. I wouldn't be having this issue if I didn't let myself get attached, but part of me doesn't regret how this turned out... It's not like me... 

  I removed my hand from her silky strands and without thinking I pulled her into my embrace; this would be one of the few moments I had with her, but it comforted me to know that here she would be safe. Me leaving her would hurt her, but we both knew the say would come, but she's strong, she'll be fine, once I go she'll move on. As much as I hate to admit it, she has that Armin kid to help and support her... My time with her has and will be short, but I do not regret it...

  "Levi? Is everything alright? You're hugging me pretty tight..." She forced a whisper and I simply nodded in response, not caring if I was squeezing her a little to tight, I wanted to imprint the feeling of her being in my arms deep into my memory, I never wanted to forget.

  "So! How's my favorite couple doing (R/n)?" Hanji asked with half excitement and concern. I shrugged, "I'm not sure... I wouldn't call us a couple either, I'm giving him time to think right now." She looked extremely disappointed, her shoulders slumped and she replied with a loud, "What! Oh that bugger... He's no fun... I blame it on his height! He just can't handle being fun, he's filled with seriousness and a really bad cleaning obsession." A few quiet moments pasted, she held up her finger and grinned, "We'll just have to change that!" I interrupted her as quick as a could, "Hanji no! Please, I told him I wouldn't rush him, I know you're disappointed but please, just give him some time." She looked at me for a moment and then pinched my cheeks, "(R/n), you're adorable! But trust me, I know what he's doing, not to mention he should be use to me meddling in his life by now!" Hanji turned after giving me a pat on the head and ran off to find where Levi had went.

  Hanji Pov

  "Short-stuff! Do you know why you're here?" I asked as I slammed my hands on the table where he was sitting. I had done it, he's cornered. I'm not going to let him get away with this! He's a sad lonely midget and he needs (R/n) in his life! Especially after what happened... I had almost forgotten about "her" until I ran into her when I first arrived here.

~Flashback~

  It's really cold! I thought as my body shivered and my teeth chattered profusly. I had to document this in my journal, I had just successfully made an opening to an alternate universe! This was unheard of and unthinkable, if my little experiment was found out, I'd most definitely be killed by our higher-ups. "My pen!" I exclaimed, "Where did it go... I must have dropped it in the snow..." Down onto my knees I went and shuffled through the snow. "Is this your pen ma'am?" Asked an oddly sweet and fimliar voice. Petra. It instantly clicked in my head! "Oh yes yes! Thank you Pet... Thanks!" She didn't catch the slight mention of her name, which was great.
  This was to a certain degree, really bizzare, but wonderfully intreaging! Could we use this knowledge? Most definitely! I've gotta tell Levi!... Wait no... It's probably not a good idea... Who know how he'll react! But I can't let her go either... What do people do here... I know! I'll ask her...
  "Well, I'm happy I helped, I'll be going now." Petra chirped as she turned to walk, I couldn't let her go, who knows if I'll see her again, I can't let a subject like this disappear! "Miss! Do you mind if I return the favor by buying you tea, maybe some coffee!?" I desperatly pleeded, she turned in surprise and nodded, "Sure, but you really don't need... Whenever you like... I assume you need my number." I knew she read the look on my face, everything I was feeling poured out.

I know what's holding him back, she is, after her death he was never quite the same. Seeing her mangled body crushed, slumled up against that tree broke him. Not only did he lose his underground friends but also his whole squad, it's made him grow scared of getting attached to anyone. I think it's about time I called Petra, that should settle some things. She may not be alive in our demesion but she is here.
