One side of The house was held up by supports and beams. He had learned to build from his father(reluctantly), and had run out of materials.
Impact was running around him, full of energy from the days of sleep he had gotten. He was tripping and flopping over every piece of rubble.
Going much further than her had ever gone in his life. He was right on the edge of Lexington, a town of eight thousand... Ghouls.
He had to be very careful, he couldn't risk getting injured this far from home.
He pulled out his rifle and scanned every last corner of the outlying buildings.
Impact stayed very close to him. The silence was deafening, the only sound was the light footsteps of the two, and the sound of the rifle hitting his armor.
A shuffle behind him made him freeze, and very slowly turn around...
It was only one Ghoul. And it seemed to be blind. Because it looked right through him.
It groaned loudly, stumbling over rocks and jagged edges as it lumbered aimlessly in any direction.
Aaron took out his dagger, he didn't need to kill it. But if it were to notice him it could attract others. It was better to get rid of it when he had the chance.
He creeped up behind it, holding out his dagger in a fighting position in case it suddenly lunged at him.
Finally getting close enough to deal a killing blow, held the dagger right up to its neck, it had finally noticed him. But it was too late, Aaron slit the Ghouls throat, and stood back so the blood wouldn't get on him.
It was dead, though it's nerves still made it thrash around the ground for a few seconds. Black blood and rotten flesh flew into the air.
Impact looked up at his master, and then down to the struggling ghoul. And then pounced on it to make sure it was dead.
Aaron patted Impact on the head and went on, unfazed by the thrashing ghoul.
It was then he spotted a military outpost on the edge of the city. It's huge steel walls still holding up after two-hundred years.
"Jackpot." Aaron said gruffly, his facade going onto full gear.
Treading lightly, they made their way towards it. Dodging a few, very much not blind ghouls.
Finally they reached the metal door, it was locked, but Aaron didn't expect anything else, taking out a screwdriver and a hairpin, he started to pick the lock.
It took a couple hairpins, and a few curses to open the door. But when he stepped inside, he would have celebrated.
Guns of all different kinds lined the walls, some of them military grade energy pistols and rifles. Grenades and frags set on the tables, and land mines lay untouched.
Although any man would have been happy with this, what caught Aaron's eye was different.
Sitting in the center of the room was a huge suit of high tech armor, painted with the military insignia in the front. A set of T-45 Power Armor.
He sat down his rifle and picked up a red energy rifle, it flared to life at his touch. And he took aim at one of the targets against the wall.
He pulled the trigger, a laser bursting out the end of the muzzle and instantly vaporized the target.
He laughed, he had always wanted one of these when he was younger. And now he had one.
He almost took a few explosives, but he realized that if the baby got into his bag, and they were in there...
Yeah, no, to risky.
Now he approached the armor and placed his hand on the back. The back flew open, letting him inside. He sat down his new rifle and carefully fit himself inside. And the suit roared to life.
It scanned him, and showed his vitals, then it showed him how to work the darned thing.
Grinning from ear to ear now that he had a new toy. He punched the air, and the huge mechanical fist punched with him.
Impact did not like the armor, but he sat there and watched in amusement as his master acted like a six year old.
Picking up his rifle he punched the wall of the base, creating a new door.
He motioned to Impact to come along, and uprooted a few trees for wood.
Then he went home, happier then he had ever been in his life.
Well almost...
His happiest time was when he met Aphmau, but other than that. He was the happiest he had ever been in his life.
Finishing the house in his armor, he realized how late it was, he hadn't noticed because the suit gave him night vision.
He walked to the station, it was only just up the hill as he had built the house pretty close to it.
Everyone was standing outside, and Aaron turned his headlamp on.
"Oh my God... he found power armor..." Garroth looked down and shook his head, but he was chuckling all the same.
"A-Aaron! Is that you?!" Aphmau shouted, a scared look on her face.
Turning on the mic, Aaron replied.
"You bet it is baby! Papa's got a new toy!"
