It had been two weeks and Aphmau was sobbing into her pillow. She had hardly moved since Aaron left, not like she had much of a choice, and the girls came to her when they were hungry. (Aurora carried Ái)
Aurora was trying to comfort her mother. But even she knew it was a losing battle. In fact she had started to cry too, as she had taken up to caring for Ái.
And for a two year old. It was hard.
Garroth and Laurance were staying over. They were trying their best to care for four kids and a mourning adult.
Laurance sat down beside Aphmau with a grim look on his face. He still didn't understand why Aaron had left. He had truly thought he had loved her....
Apparently not.
"Aphmau...... I-I can't say I understand what you're going through. But......."
She had stopped crying for now, and was listening. But just by his words she was starting to cry again.
"We're here for you..... me and Garroth...... we'll always be here for you." He placed his hand on hers. And was mildly surprised when she squeezed his hand. Shaking off his surprise, he hugged her huddled figure, and felt her shudder.
"Laurance......I don't want to believe that he's gone......but it's been weeks........I can't walk.......I can barely move....... I just......" She trailed off in tears, and they fell gently onto the white sheets, like rain onto a floor of light.
"I want it to end." She said finally, feeling her knuckles being caressed, it didn't feel the same. And she would never feel Aaron's warm hand on hers again. Or the way he would send a shock down her spine when their legs touched.
Or how when he kissed her she could feel his heart beat in sync with hers. He would never be able see their girls grow up. And they would never be able to grow old together.
"Well, your not entirely wrong...." Laurance's voice caught her off guard, but he suddenly had the biggest smile on his face she had ever seen.
"Laurance...? I don't think this is the time to smile..." She looked at him and suddenly, out of pure joy. Laurance grinned
"Three..... Two.........One."
A knock at the door grabbed Aphmau's attention, it sounded like someone was knocking on the door with metal. And Laurance smirked as he went to get the door.
He smiled when he saw the grinning face of a half mechanical man.
Aaron walked in the door, Aphmau was not looking at him. She had stuffed her face in the pillows again. And Aaron smiled.
Using his non-mechanical hand. He laced his fingers around hers and she froze.
Her heart beat faster then it had ever before. She knew that hand as if it were her own. And she caught a whiff of old cologne and ash.
She whipped around and her caramel eyes met steel.
Frozen from both shock and joy, she felt tears run down her face, but they were tears of joy.
He hugged her, wrapped both his mechanical and normal arms around her. And she sobbed into his shoulder. She felt her legs move on their own, but she couldn't feel them. Then she felt the metal wrapping around her.
Looking down, she saw the metal limbs and gasped. And flinched a little when she felt the cold metal caress her cheek, but relaxed when she saw who it belonged to.
"A-Aaron....Your alive!" With his mechanical thumb he brushed her tears away. And he felt his heart skip a beat as the blue screen showed him her smile. One that he never thought he'd see again.
Laurance nodded happily as he watched from the corner of the room. And if one were looking carefully, they might have even seen a tear of his own go down his face.
"I'm alive.......er....most of me anyway." Aphmau's smile got bigger as she heard his voice hit her ears. And she giggled hesitantly at his lame attempt at humor.
"I don't care about that. I'm just glad you're okay!" She lept on him, springing up with her arms and pulling him down to kiss her. Enjoying his dry lips pressed against her soft ones, she deepened it, she had missed him, she had missed this.
He felt static surge trough his mechanical limbs. And suddenly it was surging through his entire body. He started crying on relief, and he grabbed her and pulled her closer. Her limp legs now halfway off the bed, and his hair even more unkempt then usual.
Then. She hit him. Hard. So hard it knocked him backwards off of her. He looked at her confused, and recoiled at her livid face. You could see the steam rolling off the top of her head.
"That was for making me think you were dead!" She yelled, he voice forceful and angry. Though understandable, as she had spent the last two weeks crying.
He nodded, he deserved that, and he had expected a much worse fate then that. Mostly with his limbs shorting out as he froze outside, because she put him the the doghouse.
She then pulled him down again and kissed him, their bodies melding perfectly together, even with the mechanical limbs. He felt the wires in his arm throb, like it was just as alive as the rest of him. He has missed this. He had missed her, He had missed everyone.
She pulled back and gave him the brightest, most breathtaking smile she had ever given him.
"And that was for coming back to me."
A/N For some reason, this was the longest chapter to write. But is one of the shortest. Oh well, I hope I didn't break your hearts to much. So, here's Some fluff to repair them.
