Aaron, in his uneasy slumber, could hear footsteps trampling worn dirt. This of course, woke him, as it could be anything.
Impact, however, was in such a deep sleep, he could not hear a thing. In fact he was snoring, his nose expanding with each breath.
Aaron took his dagger, he didn't want to make too much noise, he didn't want to attract anything else.
He spotted movement outside his window, this worried him, whatever it was, it was small and quick.
Opening the door slightly, the beam of light gave away his position, and suddenly the thumping stopped. Whatever was out there was listening.
Then he heard coo's , like a mother consoling a child. It didn't sound like some animal.
He turned around the corner quickly, and the thing ran away, it was humanoid, he could tell that much. It had some sort of package, or a bundle as it ran away. But it didn't look like anything was stolen.
Aaron scratched the back of his head, he had never known someone to run away from him. He figured that it might have just been some kind of animal. And went back inside.
The next morning, Impact and Aaron went out scavenging once more, looking for this or that. In all honesty he didn't really need anything, not at the moment anyway. He just secretly hoped he would run into someone.
Suddenly, Impact growled, barring his teeth. His tail stuck up straight.
A movement in that direction made Aaron pull out his rifle. He was on edge, even if it was an animal Impact wouldn't growl. It was something, else.
He heard a feminine whimper, it was coming from inside a very unstable looking building.
Impact barked, whatever was in that building he didn't like, but when he heard the whimper he went crazy, barking and growling, he ran inside. Leaving his master to himself.
Aaron followed slowly behind Impact, the dog not slowing down as he went up rickety and moldy stairs.
Aaron however, took his time, if he fell, he might break something. And that would be bad.
Carefully he made his way to the next floor, having to turn away at the sight before him immediately. Though it was mostly him being polite.
There was a girl, her clothes were torn and she was bleeding from multiple gashes. But she was smiling, though in obvious pain, petting Impact.
"Impact, come." Aaron said gruffly, his hand out to pet him.
Impact walked over to him, slamming his face into Aaron's hand. Snuggling into it.
"So this is who you found," he turned on the girl.
In his opinion, she was very pretty, not that he would admit that.
She had warm black hair that went down to the small of her back, it was oddly clean. Her eyes were the color of caramel apples, and just as sweet.
Now, Aaron was very good at reading people, he had done it a thousand times, and his judgment was usually right. But right at this moment he couldn't do much of anything.
