"There has to be another way up," Chloe muttered, glancing at the armed men, waiting impatiently at the stairs. "An elevator or something."
"There's a lift but theres two more men guarding that, the first floor is the one that will get hit first, that's why there's more guards," Lucifer murmured trying to think, he saw a rock on a pedestal, it looked pretty expensive but hey, he was saving lives right now. He placed his hand on Chloe's back ready to shield her if they were seen. "We're going to run to that pedestal, throw the rock and run for the stairs when their distracted, you've got to be fast Detective or we're shot dead."
Chloe felt the panic rise but she trusted Lucifer and nodded to him, and he edged her closer, ready to bolt to the artifact. He pushed off the floor and darted for the rock. Chloe stopped behind the pedestal, Lucifer stood snatching the rock and crouching down beside her letting out a breath. "Ok, so we've got the rock, what do we do now? You're not superman, that things like ten pounds probably a lot more."
"You underestimate my strength, Detective." Lucifer smirked and held the rock with one hand, making Chloe's eyebrows shoot up and he readied it for launch, meaning for it to shoot over the guards heads unnoticed until it crashed to the ground on the other side. He flung it and watched as it did exactly what he wanted and smashed to pieces from the force on the other side, causing the two men to run towards the direction the sound had come from.
Lucifer clung to Chloe and ran as fast as he could Chloe at his side, the look of terror on her face was clear. He slowed once they'd reached the top of the stairs, sliding to the side leaning against the wall letting out another breath. He wasn't much of a runner, Chloe looked equally as exhausted but immediately started to move. Peering around things, praying to spot Trixie but she couldn't see her, not from here.
Lucifer came up behind her, knowing he was taller he'd probably spot the tribe exhibit first. He caught sight of it on the far end of the room through a door. He could hear the yells from the deep voiced men, he wanted to go in there and show them punishment but he was concentrated on Trixie. "Over there, those two furry men are pacing around there, I'll give them a razor if they really need it."
He noticed Chloe reach for her gun, and placed his hand over hers as it touched the gun. She snapped her head in his direction giving him a 'what the hell are you doing?' look.
"We have to get closer and if you drop that deadly contraption they'll know we're here."
"Well how else am I going to get her back?" Chloe hissed angrily, fearing for her daughters life. "There's not much too hide behind around here."
"No, but soon they'll be distracted by the police, then we'll get closer." Lucifer muttered, just on que there were sirens ringing through the air startling the two men, making one accidentally shoot a bullet, it sounding through the second floor. Chloe was about to let out a scream but Lucifer pulled her towards him, covering her mouth from the scream. Surprisingly Trixie hadn't screamed but the men were now in an argument, drifting away from Trixie. Chloe stayed close to Lucifer (seem as he seemed to be the sensible one on this rescue mission) but she could see the dark colour of Trixie's hair, making her just wanting to run towards her daughter. Trixie caught sight of them too, about to run but Lucifer held up his finger, indicating for her to wait and gestured her to keep hidden. He turned quietly to Chloe, she had tears in her eyes now, her daughter only a few feet away. "I'll need you to stay here and stay calm Detective, understand? No yelling, no running, just wait until Trixie is back in your arms, because I promise she will be."
"Lucifer..." Chloe said warily. "What are you doing?"
Before he could reply he moved closer to Trixie, quick like a cheetah but she felt the fear even worse, now both her daughter and Lucifer were in danger. She cursed under her breath, but smiled seeing Lucifer reach Trixie, who wrapped her arms around him, he lifted her into his arms about to run back but he heard the loud footsteps of the men approaching, he was way to tall to hide behind anything and not be seen but Trixie could go back into her hiding place and not be seen, he put her down and pushed her lightly back in her hiding space and placed his finger on his lips. He wasn't going to let her get caught, at least Chloe would get to Trixie now, seem as the guards will be distracted. Lucifer edged away from Trixie, the footsteps getting louder and getting to a safe distance where they'd see him and not Trixie. He heard the quick sound of a gun or two raising and his hands shot up, in surrender. He made a quick glance at Chloe but she had her hand clamped over her mouth, her other hand shaky pointing the gun towards one of the men, but if she pulled that trigger they were all dead. He shook his head subtly, making her understand and saw her lower the gun. The man with the gun slammed it straight into Lucifer's stomach, making him double over in pain. He'd only just healed from the other accident and now he'd get hurt by this one too.
"How the hell did you get out!?" The man with affro yelled his voice rough, trying to act tough. Lucifer chuckled, wanting to piss off the men, he wasn't going to act like a baby, he wasn't scared, not now he knew that Trixie and Chloe were soon to be safe. The men hit Lucifer again, Chloe wanted to stand in and beat the daylight out of the men but she saw Trixie sobbing silently, she knew Lucifer sacrificed himself for her to get her daughter.
"Kinda...hard for me...to answer whilst...your hitting me." Lucifer grumbled, clutching his stomach, glaring at the men.
"We'll hit you across the head next time if you don't answer the question." The second man growled, raising his gun.
"I was never in your little hostage situation, your men are lazy, they didn't bother checking the top floor, I heard all the chaos and thought I'd join your little party, but you hit me once more with you little gadget, you'll regret it." Lucifer snapped, stepping closer to them in a threatening way. Chloe had no idea what he was doing but he was unarmed and this wasn't the time for a game.
"Dude, we've got the guns, one shot in the right place and you're as good as dead," The first smirked, stepping towards Lucifer, his gun raised at Lucifer's head level. He made the motion of him shooting Lucifer's head. Lucifer didn't even blink, letting his eyes flicker red. Making the men pause, taking a couple steps back. "W-what are you?!"
Chloe looking over as the man saifmd the words, standing to her feet the men seeing her but they didn't move, just stared frantically at Lucifer, their guns almost slipping out of their hands. Chloe took the chance, she'd seen this before, people truly feared Lucifer and she couldn't begin to understand why. But she darted for Trixie, her hand still on the gun ready for one of them to react and she'd be fast enough to shoot them first. Trixie ran from her hiding spot and ran into her mother's arms, Chloe clinging to her and standing a few feet away from Lucifer. "Detective, I'd advice you to leave."
"No, not without you Lucifer, come on, look at them they're practically wetting themselves." Chloe frowned, heading towards Lucifer but he didn't move, he was watching the men's movement like a hawk, wary of them shooting their weapons.
"I'm going for the hostages and I can't get them out safely with you here, I need you and Trixie to leave, find a hiding place and I'll clear the stairs and you go through the vent and out of the building. Go now!" Lucifer grumbled, sneering at the men as they made a movement, he stepped towards them again, letting his eyes glow red again. Chloe wanted to protest, she couldn't leave Lucifer in a building of criminals. But she took a step back and agreed, holding Trixie tight to her shoulder.
"We can't leave, Lucifer!" Trixie cried, watching Lucifer as her mother hid her and herself behind a strange artifact. Within a few seconds there were cries from the men around three gun shots and silence. Trixie burst into tears terrified it was Lucifer. Chloe kept Trixie away but when she looked around the corner, Lucifer had the two men tied up on the floor, a trickle of blood running down the side of their heads.
"Oh, thank god" Chloe mumbled to herself but Trixie heard and perked up, knowing it meant Lucifer was ok but not for long once there were heavy footsteps stomping down the stairs. Chloe grabbed Trixie and turned a corner bumping into Lucifer. "Their coming, both downstairs and upstairs."
"Go, the stairs are clear, I'll sort out these, turns out their not the best shot anyway," Lucifer shrugged, nudging Chloe and Trixie towards the way of the stairs. There was a yell and a gunshot and Lucifer practically threw Trixie and Chloe towards the stairway, the bullet nicking his arm but he gritted his teeth through the pain. "Go!"
"Lucifer, you're shot!" Chloe exclaimed, placing her spare hand on the wound but he shoved her off.
"It was a graze and if you don't go now, you and the little human will get one too, get to the vent!" Lucifer snapped, Chloe hesitated but lifted Trixie and ran disappearing down the stairs as another few shots went off. Praying Lucifer was ok.
