Lucifer leant over his piano, Chloe had sat on it when she came in LUX, placing herself on the cushioned bench casually. Lucifer noticed from the bar and smirked, he wasn't surprised she was here, they'd found the gut loving killer, locked him up and Chloe was the one to capture him as usual. He quickly realized when he saw her sat patiently waiting for him to appear that only she sat on his piano, ever. It was never anyone else, not even Maze. It was either him or Chloe sat at the piano. He smiled fondly down at her, whilst she looked up at him with her big blue eyes, almost waiting for something. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"What? No alcohol" Lucifer grinned at her words, flung around just as a bartender came past with a tray of cocktails, he took two from the tray, the woman didn't seem to care seem as he was her boss. He turned back to his partner and held out the cocktail whilst he took a sip of his own, it was best not to just down it. Chloe shook her head but gladly took a gulp of the drink. "That's more like it"
"Ah Detective, I like how you are when we succeed" He smirked, swiftly moving around her and sitting beside her. Her eyes followed him, shifting as he sat so he had room.
"Well what can I say? We caught the bad guy. The favourite part of my day" Chloe shrugged, drinking the rest of her cocktail as Lucifer did and twirled the little umbrella. "Besides here I get my drinks free"
"Oh thanks, not fond of the company that comes with it then" Lucifer said acting offended, Chloe placed her hand over his with a little laugh.
"I love the company Lucifer"
"As do I detective"Lucifer smiled, edging a little closer to her. "Now about that question you so subtly sneaked away from earlier. Us as a couple. Do you think we'd be good together?"
Chloe paused as he asked the question, she didn't want to answer, that was the whole reason she had walked off earlier. But Lucifer looked eager to know. She looked down at her lap, only just noticing Lucifer had entwined their hands, his thumb tracing shapes on the back of her hand. She let out a sigh and looked at him.
"Maybe, but we work together Lucifer, that changes everything, what if we get in an argument? It'll prevent us from doing a case, it won't have our full attention. Then there's Trixie, she adores you, but will she be up for you being around all the time, becoming her potential step father, you always talk of how you don't like children, then the next minute your like a dad, it's confusing Lucifer. There's many reasons, so I don't know if we'd be good together, although I very much like the idea" Chloe confessed, Lucifer was listening, he understood all of those reasons but he smiled. She liked the idea, she was considering it.
"We can work around the problems, besides we basically argue constantly at work anyway. And Beatrice, I think she'll like the idea of seeing me more often, she already attacks me when she sees me, she seems pleased by my presence most of the time" Lucifer replied, squeezing her hand. "I'd think we'd make a quite fitting pair Detective, the devil and the detective, who'd have thought"
"Lucifer..." Chloe sighed, still unsure, avoiding eye contact, that wasn't really helping.
"I promise Detective, I will never, ever. Hurt you, not purposely anyway, I can never tell if I've taken anything to far. But I promise Chloe if I do, you can send me straight back to hell" Lucifer had now turned to face her, both his hands covering Chloe's, he looked at her with his best puppy face. Chloe finally met his eyes, he could see the way his face had an effect on her. He could see she wanted to say yes. "I always thought I cared for nothing, not anything. No girl, no living soul, no building. I never had a home, not until I came here and met you, I know that sounds cliche but it's true detective, your my home, I try to shut some parts of my life out and keep them separate from you, you've probably noted that. But it's because it's messy, because you don't believe my past, you don't believe I'm the devil. I'd gladly show you, I want to show you. But I can't, I refuse to, because I'm scared. For the first time in centuries, you Chloe Decker a mortal being, has the devil scared to show himself"
Chloe listened, her stomach flipping at his words, her heart racing a billion beats a second, it might just burst out of her chest. He had a troubled past, she knew that, she knew he was different, weird. But she liked to think of him as hers anyway. She knew she got jealous when he was with someone else, she sometimes even got jealous over him and Maze, knowing they were so close. But this puppy eyed man sat before her, holding her hands as though they were precious jewels, looking at her like she was treasure. It was hard to believe he was the devil. She wanted to believe him, she did believe him. He didn't lie to her. She hated hearing that she scared him.
"Lucifer, I don't want you to be scared, not of me. I believe you, because like you said a while ago, you never have and never will lie to me. And I believe that. So I believe that you are the devil, I believe that your father is God, that Maze is your demon protector. I believe you Lucifer" Chloe smiled, leaning forward and kissing his cheek, his cheek immediately flushing pink, placing his hand over when her lips were, he could still feel the kiss burning on his skin. Chloe thought it'll be a little to far if she kissed him on the lips. Especially when they were sat in the middle of a lively party. She giggled at his blush, she couldn't lie, Lucifer was an attractive man, fancy suits all the time, combed hair. He took pride in how he looked.
