Chloe nibbled at her lip, not because she had a ton of paperwork to fill out and she was supposed to complete it all the night before, not because she had a throbbing headache but because Lucifer was due to show up at any minute. Chloe wasn't sure if he'd remember it, especially since he had much more drinks than she did, her memory was clearer than his, maybe the kiss was a mistake.
Right on time Lucifer showed up, looking in a fairly happy mood, she stood seeing him come into the precinct, giving compliments here and there. Everyone in the department liked Lucifer, not just the women but the men, mostly because he gave them tips on women, everyone except Dan of course, he wasn't really big on Lucifer. Chloe cleared her throat when Lucifer stopped in front of her, scanning her.

"Good morning, Detective" Lucifer smirked down at her as he usually did. Chloe let her eyes travel over him, trying to read him, figure out if he remembered anything. "When did you leave last night? I don't have the foggiest idea my mind blanked out after the fifth shot"

Chloe thought she could hear her heart break, he didn't remember. Lucifer noticed the dismay that swamped across her expression, his face turning serious, edging closer to her, making her step back a little, it was Lucifers turn to look hurt.

"I left about half eight, to get back to Trixie" She spoke but her voice was flat, she hadn't meant to sound so dismissed from the conversation but she couldn't help but think that kiss had meant something, but it turns out Lucifer didn't even remember it.

"Is this about our conversation Detective? I didn't mean to pressure you" Lucifer apologised, not moving any closer to her, afraid he'd done something to offend her.

"No Lucifer, the conversation was fine, I didn't mind it...its just my head hurts that's all," Chloe lied, sitting down in her chair and pulling out a file Dan had left on her desk. "Two girls have been taken, most people think it's to get back at their mother, Claire Hudson, large businesswoman, not known for being the nicest of people. Her two girls, Scarlett and Tanya, six and eight were taken around late last night, whoever did it aren't out to hurt the children, as far as we know but they could do if we don't find them"

Lucifer half-listened, half thought about Chloe, he knew it wasn't just the headache, but he kept quiet and nodded at the correct parts of her explanation, he felt outraged, he never understood why anyone took things out on children, he'd grown to like them a little more since he met Trixie.

"Right, well up we get Detective" Lucifer instructed, walking around her desk taking her hands and pulling her to her feet. She gazed at their connecting hands then up at Lucifer, giving him a small smile. "I can make you a little headache cure later, promise"

"Let's find those girls first, starting with their mother we've got to find out who'd hate her so much to take her children" Chloe told him, taking her hands out of his and clearing her throat once more.

"Very well, let's go" Lucifer nodded in agreement, watching Chloe as she collected the file in her arms and headed out towards her car, Lucifer following quickly behind. He was concerned for her, he could tell she was off her game today and the day had barely begun. He wondered if maybe something had happened, but he didn't ask, not yet, not whilst she's driving, he didn't out them in an accident because he'd distracted her. He got into the passenger seat and she climbed into the drivers seat passing Lucifer the file as she buckled in. She could feel his eyes trained on her, even when she started the car, she sighed rolling her eyes, finally getting uncomfortable.

"Lucifer stop staring"

"Are we in a fight?" He asked, making her glance at him. She let out a breath and shook her head.

"No," Lucifer looked at her, as if to say are you sure? Chloe noticed the look from the corner of her eye. "I promise Lucifer, we're not in a fight, I just...my thoughts are all over the place today"

"Is this to do with Detective Douche?" Lucifer asked.

"No, nothing to do with Dan, please Lucifer, I'll tell you when I'm ready, I promise"

"You're making a lot of promises, but I trust you'll keep them, so very well, I'm here if you need to talk" Chloe felt her heart flutter at those words, she was the one usually having to say it to him. She gave him a loving smile and turned back to the road. Lucifer gazed out of the window, thinking of all the things that could be messing up the Detective's mind this morning but he couldn't think of anything. Other than Trixie. Trixie. Was something wrong with Beatrice?

"Is your spawn ok?" Lucifer aasked trying to be subtle, trying to see her reaction. But Chloe nodded looking at him.

"She's pretty happy, why'd you ask?" Chloe asked, studying him with a smirk. Lucifer shrugged, avoiding eye contact.

"I was just checking up on her, you never know what Beatrice could be up to, I mean the first time I met her she'd started a fight" Lucifer chuckled, he loved that Trixie was a trouble maker, it made her more likable. Chloe shook her head with a giggle.

"That girl deserved it," Chloe defended Trixie, glancing at Lucifer who was watching her, she felt her cheeks burn up.

"I agree with you, that's why I scared the living daylights out of her" Lucifer laughed, Chloe laughing along with him, it had become his favourite sound to hear seem as it was rare from her seem as she was always so serious. "So she's not in any trouble?" Lucifer asked, just to make sure.

"No Lucifer, Trixies ok" Chloe told him, she loved that he cared for Trixie even though he'd deny it if she ever asked. It was sweet.

"Well then, good...and you? You're ok?" Lucifer said.

"Yes, I'm good Lucifer, I feel better now...are you?" Chloe smiled, her eyes dazzling bright blue when her eyes landed on him.

"I'm splendid, Detective, never better" Lucifer gave her a genuine smile, practically getting lost in her eyes as they say.
