The Last Shot

Chapter 9: Saabreena

It’s been a long time since I cried so hard because him. Siguro yung last time na iniyakan ko siya was when I learned he had a new girlfriend. I was so pathetic that time. I even thought of going back and beg him to take me back to his life. Umabot ako sa point na ganun. But then again, I would always remind myself that I can’t just be with someone who is so immature.

I’ve always thought it would be the last time I would cry for him. Pero mali ako. I cried for him, again.

I rolled over to the other side of my bed as I cuddled my pillow. “Achoo!”

“Ughhh!!!” I groaned as I rubbed my nose.

 “Kim?” Someone called, then I heard a few knocks on the door. “Kim, it’s me. Iza.”

Why is she here?

I heaved out a heavy sigh. I don’t think I’m in the mood to see anyone, especially her.

“Come in.” I said as I sat on my bed.

I heard the door creaked. I shifted my gaze to the doorway and I saw Eliza making her way in my room with a tray.

“May sakit ka daw sabi ni Manang.” She said as she placed the tray she was holding at the bedside table. “Kumain ka muna.”

I shook my head. “Wala akong gana.”

“Pasaway ka talaga!” she commented. “Sayang! Isasama sana kita eh.”

Tumaas ang kilay ko. “Where?”

She smiled and sat on my bed. “Sa bahay nila Jeric.”

I faked a chuckle. “Ba--bakit? Close na rin ba kayo ni Jeric?”

“Actually..” she mumbled as she looked down. “Nililigawan na ako ni Jeron.”

Those words shut me. I stared at her for a long time. Did I just hear it right?

“I—I thought you like Jeric?” I asked.

“And besides, you just met him!” I continued. “What are you thinking?”

She looked away. “Nililigawan pa lang naman eh.”

“How about tita Jane?” I asked. “You know she—“

“She already knows.” She said.

I looked at her intently. “And she’s okay with it?”

She nodded. “Look. I know this is crazy, but don’t you think it’s my chance?”

“Chance to what?” I snapped. “Chance to get closer with Jeric? Come on Iza, are you planning to use Jeron?”
