I’ve been a total jerk, almost half of my life. I’ve been heartless to women, except for my favorite cousin Saab. I’ve been a hater for what they call love. And I’ve started believing that love doesn’t exist – that it is just a game that everyone plays, and that I just have to be good at it – that I just have to be the one in control. But things have changed since I met this girl who’s slowly walking to the same path I’m taking.

I know how it feels to live in hatred, at ayokong maranasan niya yun. I don’t want her to feel miserable. I don’t want her innocent heart to get caught in the in the darkness of pain. This time, I realized that everything’s not a game; that I don’t have to be always in control, that I don’t have to have to play with anyone’s heart. Because this time, I can say that I have fallen in love with.

“Umuwi ka na Gab.” She said as she stared at me. “It’s late.”

“No.” I said stubbornly. “I wont leave unless I’m assured na okay ka na.”

She looked away. “Okay na ako Gab. Just.. just leave.”

I reached for her hand and let her face me. “Look, Kim. You don’t have to do this alone. I’m here. Tutulungan kitang mag-explain.”

After the incident sa beach house kanina, hinatid ko na si Kim along with her cousins. I know she can’t drive lalo na pag-ganun yung sitwasyon niya – and of course, I wouldn’t allow her to drive alone. I just don’t want anything bad to happen to her.

“Everything’s going to be fine.” I assured her.

Suddenly, her laptop started to buzz. Heto na ang hinihintay namin. May incoming video call.

I tightened my grip on her hand. “I’m just here.”

She looked at me and nodded before accepting the video call.

“Tita.” She started.

While I was driving them back home, tinawagan ni Kim ang tita niya to tell her what happened. I’ve sensed na pinagalitan siya ng tita niya. And so I’ve decided to stay with her. buti na nga lang eh, kasi may part two pa pala ang pag-uusap nila.

“I’m very disappointed with you Kim.” That was the very first  thing her tita said.

“I’m sorry tita..” Kim said habang naka-yuko. “I know it’s my fault.”

“Their tita Liezel’s gonna pick them up tonight.” Her tita said. “Dun muna sila mag-ststay while I’m here.”

“I understand.” Kim said softly.

I held her hand even tighter before I spoke. “It’s my fault ma’am. Ako po ang nagpapunta kay Kim sa party. So technically, it was my fault.”

Kim shifted her gaze to me with a confused look on er face.
