Song: Unsteady-X Ambassadors

"Wait a minute, so you were with a man for six years and were planning the wedding, but he decided he didn't want to get married? But now he's getting married? Does this man have no balls?" Elliot frowned as if he was analysing the situation. I had to laugh, because hearing it out loud sure was funny. How ironic, especially the man who really never thought about marriage. Lucas didn't see it as a necessary thing in life. He thought loving one another should be enough to prove their loyalty. Marriage had always been something we disagreed on.

I shrugged, "I guess not. Can we go?" I stood up and grabbed my coffee cup from the table. I didn't wait on Elliot, I made my way out the door. Elliot lit a cigarette and I allowed my eyes to linger on his plump lips. He smirked and exhaled the smoke away from me.

I walked towards the apartment building as Elliot tried to catch up. "So, do you know the fiance'?"

I had been waiting for this question to come up, and I knew he was wondering why I was invited to the wedding when I was an ex-girlfriend. Honestly, I still wonder why I was invited after last Christmas. I had been a mess for a year now and it was a rough time for me. "She's my step-sister." He stopped walking next to me, his eyes wide and his cigarette fell out of his mouth. I stepped on it, putting it out with my boot.

"You have got to be kidding me," I shook my head. "Oh my god, you have awful luck, Andy."

"Trust me, I know. He just so happened to be at Christmas last year. I was shocked, I tried to avoid them as much as possible. I think I've been cursed." I sipped my coffee and shrugged.

I didn't know why I was telling him all of this, I had only known him twenty-four hours. I usually don't spill my past love-life secrets to someone I just met. But, most of New York knew what happened between Lucas and I. It was a big deal, considering he was very wealthy and so was my step-father. Mark, my step-father, owned a few businesses and Lucas had his own law firm in the city. So naturally, everyone knew that we had had a nasty break-up and they also knew that only a year later he started going out with my lovely step-sister.

"You're not planning on going to the wedding, are you?" He asked as we walked

"You're not planning on going to the wedding, are you?" He asked as we walked.

"I don't know, I really don't have a choice. She's family and my mother would have a field day if I didn't show up. I'm used to things like this, Elliot, it's really nothing new. Might as well call me Bridget Jones because that's how my life just so happens to be." I tossed my coffee into a nearby bin and continued to walk next to Elliot.

"God I would hate to be you, seriously." He held the door opened for me once we reached the apartment building.

"I hate being me," We climbed into the elevator and pushed the fourth floor button. "Enough about me, it's your turn to talk."

"There isn't much to tell, to be honest..."

"Everyone has a story, there is always something to tell." I said as I stared at the ceiling.
