When people say you never know what you have until it's gone, they really do mean it. For Andy Edwards, she's been through enough in her lifetime to know that she can't always get what she wants. Life just keeps throwing her curveballs and there are...
"I can call and tell her to go back home, you know. You're way too stressed about this." Lexie said, shaking her head as she watched me pace back and forth in the kitchen. I made a Thanksgiving dinner for everyone, including my mother who decided to surprise me with a call this morning saying Lucas and Aleah were coming along as well. That meant that Karen and Daryl were coming. It had only been a few weeks since Elliot and I worked everything out. I didn't need the extra drama for the holiday.
"No, I just hope Elliot doesn't start throwing punches across the table."
"I hope he does. I love a good family drama," She smirked until she realized I was not amused. "Okay, that was uncalled for. But stop pacing! It'll be fine. Elliot will behave but I know he's going to cling to you like a spider monkey. He's been extremely protective over the past few weeks." She sat up on the counter, swinging her legs as she tasted the mashed potatoes.
"I just want everything to go okay. I'm not really sure I like having Aleah in my house. Her husband kissed me, drunk, but he still did it. I just hope that isn't brought up because I can't handle another problem this year." I pulled the potatoes away from her, rolling my eyes as she pouted.
"I think you need a nerve pill. You're so on edge," The front door opened and in walked Elliot carrying several grocery bags as he huffed. "Oh, look what the cat dragged in."
"I wasn't born with enough middle fingers to let you know how I feel about you," He retorted, smiling victoriously.
"Okay, that was a good one. I might have to steal that from you. If you're going to be a smartass, first you have to be smart. Otherwise you're just an ass." They high-fived each other as if they were middle schoolers. I rolled my eyes at the game they had been playing for the past few days. Each time they saw each other, they insulted the other. I swore they were really children.
"Hey, baby. Smells good in here." Elliot kissed me, setting the bags down on the only empty counter space. I didn't have the ingredients to make sweet potatoes so Elliot volunteered to run to the store. I was surprised there were even any open, considering it was Thanksgiving.
"Thanks. Can you promise me something?" I looked up at him with pleading eyes. He rolled his eyes and kissed my temple.

"Yes I'll behave myself. But don't expect me to leave your side for a second once they all get here." His hands rested on my hips as he swayed us back and forth. I watched as Lexie snuck a bite of turkey from the pan and I slapped her with the spatula.
"Damn you! Come on, it was the smallest piece ever!"
"Go find something to do! You're driving me nuts." She hopped off the counter and quickly grabbed another piece before bolting for the living room.
