#TheCouch (definitely a thing)

How many of you are afraid of the doctor or dentist?

Surprisingly, (or not surprisingly,) many of us have strong negative associations with these professional visits. Whether this is a personal experience or not, it is fairly common to be nervous when going to an appointment. I know that I do.

Everyone goes to the dentist and doctor EVENTUALLY, so if your story is going slow and you need some filler, send your characters in for a check up! It's a great opportunity to describe the intensity of emotions and develop a potential history. For example, making them know one of the dentists, but they disconnected with them over time. They could be worried about awkward social interaction with them, not knowing what to say to them. Maybe a character hates another character beyond reason and finds out that they are their doctor for their physical. This scenario has a lot of potential for character development.

If you want to avoid creating new characters, you can focus on the emotions of whichever character you're following. Either they just really hate going to wellness check-ups, or you could even have the exact opposite. Maybe you have a masochist on your hands. Maybe your character is incredibly neutral about it all, but their siblings are panicking.

As always, everything is up to you. Be creative, and let us know if you use this prompt! (Just don't have me read it before tomorrow; I'm getting my wisdom teeth out. *cries*)
