Welcome to your next prompt!
I didn't introduce myself before, but I am TheCouch. I wrote the first prompt in addition to this one. We hope you are loving our prompt book!Ready?
This week's prompt is closed doors. Interpret this theme how you will. "Closed doors" can be both a literal and figurative idea.
Maybe your characters are in desperate need of something to happen within your story. (Blame writer's block) Using this prompt, you could have one of your characters suddenly become distant and "close their door" to your other characters. Why are they doing this? Up to you completely. This could end up being a small bump in the road of plotlines, or it could become apart of the bigger picture within the end.
Taking a more literal approach, say for example, there is a mysterious closed door. You can write with the intention to fulfill the cliche and have a door that is forbidden to be trespassed, or you can try to create a completely new idea.
To spark some ideas, perhaps this door has closed behind the main character, and they can't get it open.
Maybe the main character's curiosity overtook them and they were obsessed with opening a locked door.
Or maybe they didn't even know about this rumored door until someone on the street interfered with their personal life, begging for help.I'm interested to see people combine this prompt into one story as both a literal AND figurative theme.
Don't forget to tag your stories with contest_fun, and whichever prompt number you used! You can always post a link in the comments.
Thanks for reading, and let your creativity flow!
