On with the prompt:
I actually had this idea myself not long ago, but if you need a way to express emotion or perhaps further plot. Try a dream, it could be a nightmare or a super happy dream or even a dream like in Pokemon red/blue rescue team where it explains a story or legend that could possibly relate to your character. (sorry I'm a Pokemon nerd, I couldn't help myself). You could even use this idea to show emotion and bond between characters.
