Family ever after

I felt bad for telling my parents who Ava was with but I wasn't thinking. I felt really bad when Ava started crying and informed us that she and Jace were no longer a going concern. I needed to apologize. I walked upstairs and heard light sniffles. I knocked on her door and heard her tiny voice. She sounded sad and I knew I was partially the reason.

"Come in", she said as her voice cracked.

I opened the door and when she saw me her expression changed from sad to angry.

"Get out!", Ava yelled.

"Ava calm down. I just want to talk", I replied putting my hands up in surrender.

She looked at me for a second and her expression softened. She folded her arms and led me over to her bed. I saw she had some pictures of her and Jace out. Ava looked happy with him.

"I'm sorry baby sis", I said. "I'm a jackass".

"Language and why did you rat me out?", she asked.

"You ratted me out", I said defensively.

"Okay you have a point and I'm sorry but you left me at the movies!".

"Okay we both did some stupid stuff tonight but let's not drag it out", I said.

"Fine", she said rolling her eyes.

Ava and I hugged for a moment before we both fell back onto her pillows.

"So what happened with Jace?", I asked looking at her.

"He took me to this beautiful cliff that overlooked the ocean but he wanted something from me and I wouldn't give it too him so he got mad", she explained as she looked up at the ceiling.

I felt bad for my little sister. Hazel did the same thing to me a few times. I was also angry that he tried to hook up with Ava. A surge of anger raced through me.

"I'm uh going to sleep so see ya in the morning", I said rushing out of her room.

I zoomed downstairs and grabbed my car keys. I jumped in my car and drove off to Jaces house. No one messes with my baby sister. When I arrived I got out and marched up to the house. I knocked, well banged, on the door until it opened.

"Caleb? What are you doing here?", Madison, Jacks wife and Jaces mom, asked.

"Um, I came to borrow some notes from Jace. We have history together", I smiled.

"Oh okay I'll go get him", she said sweetly.

It's funny how sweet she is and how everyone puts hate on her.

"Caleb what's-

Before Jace could finish his sentence my fist connected with his nose and he fell to the ground in pain.

"WHAT THE HELL MAN!!?", he yelled.

"If you ever mess with my baby sister again I will rip your pathetic excuse off and tape it to your forehead", I growled.

I walked off with steam coming out of my ears and sped away from the house. When I got home my mom was reading a magazine and my dad was on his phone.

"Hey son, where you been?", my dad asked.

"Just ran an errand", I smiled.

"Caleb?", my mom said giving me a look.

"I just went out for a drive", I replied putting my hands up.

"Ok", she sighed.

I walked upstairs and into my room. I tossed my keys on my desk and stripped out of my clothes and walked to my shower. When I gripped the hot water knozzle I winced in pain. I looked at my hand and it was purple. Hopefully Jace learned  his lesson. I stepped in the shower and let the water relax my tense muscles.

     The next morning I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing like crazy. I rolled over, put my glasses on and grabbed my phone. I was surprised when I saw I had 10 missed calls from Jace and two texts.
{Jace💜: Hey Av can we talk?}
{Jace💜: Ava I'm outside. Plz talk to me}
I got out of bed and threw a sweater over my tank top and put my slippers on. I hopped out of my window and saw Jace standing against the side of the house.

"Jace what are you doing here?", I yelled in a whisper.

When he turned to me he had a black eye and his nose was bruised.

"Ava I am so sorry about what I did", he said walking towards me.

"Well you should've thought about that before you did it", I replied folding my arms.

"Look just give me another chance ok? I'm an idiot and I need you", he begged. "Please".

I couldn't deny those cocoa brown eyes. I walked over to him and wrapped him in a hug. His strong arms held me tight. He smashed his lips on mine and we kissed roughly for a second.

"Look I'm grounded and I don't want to get in trouble so I'm going to head back inside", I said.

He nodded and we went separate ways. When Jace kissed me it felt nothing like Shawn's. Shawn's kiss was held with so many sparks and it felt like he cared but with Jace I felt nothing which concerned me. I used to feel everything with Jace or I thought I did. I shut my window and plopped down on my bed. I sighed and smiled as I thought about Shawn. Ugh what am I doing? It's not like Shawn is interested in me or I'm interested in him. I'm not right? I am? This is so confusing. I got up and like most mornings I took a long shower. After I got out I picked an outfit for the day. A Chicago bulls crop Jersey, denim high waisted shorts, my wedged sneakers and a black SnapBack. I straightened my hair, did my makeup and threw my SnapBack on. I walked downstairs where my parents, who I was not speaking too, sat eating and talking to my brother.

"Ava?", my mom said. "Honey sit down. We need to talk".

Even though I was mad at her she is still my mom and I have to respect her.

"We thought that maybe we were a little unfair for grounding you. Caleb explained what happened", my mom said with a smile.

"You're ungrounded", my dad added.

"Oh my gosh really!!!!!?", I squealed hugging them both and Caleb.

So maybe this summer won't be a bummer after all....
