~A month later(Ava)
I was in a peaceful sleep dreaming about my new little girl!!! Yes it's a girl!!!! When I felt something drip down my leg. I looked down and saw a pool of water. This isn't supposed to happen

"Mom!!!! Please help!!!! Dad!!!! Caleb!!!!", I screamed.

I heard massive amounts of footsteps run to my room.

"Avalon what's wrong!!!?", my dad asked.

My stomach began killing me and I shrieked louder.

"Shit her water broke!!",Caleb said.

My dad scooped me up and carried me out to the car. I felt my eyes get heavy and I saw streaks of black flash before me. Finally, I saw the black universe overtake me.
••2 hours later••
I heard various mumbles around me but I couldn't see them. I opened my eyes and saw my parents chatting with the doctors.

"Ava's up", my dad mumbled to my mom.

My mom walked over to me and pushed my hair behind my ear.

"Mommy what happened?", I asked.

"Your water broke a few hours ago and you passed out from exhaustion", she said.

The baby.

"Mom is....is the baby d...dead?", I whimpered.

My mom grabbed my hand and looked at my dad.

"We don't know yet. The doctors have her in the neonatal unit", my dad said.

The thought of losing my baby girl killed me. I couldn't help but feel this is my fault. I mean I'm the one who was supposed to carry her around and make sure she arrived healthy but I couldn't even do that.

"It's my fault", I whispered.

"Avalon this isn't your fault!! It happens more than you think", my dad assured me.

I nodded and kept thinking about my baby. I hadn't really thought about a name for her yet and I couldn't keep calling 'the baby'. All of the sudden it hit me. Violet Renee Caniff. It fit her perfectly.

"Violet", I said looking at my mom.

"What?".

"That's her name", I smiled.

"Oh I love it baby", she pecked my forehead.
-
"Caniff Family?", a doctor said walking in.

My head shot towards the doctor and I couldn't wait to hear something about Violet.

"Okay your baby is doing fine", she smiled. "She isn't breathing on her own just yet but we think she'll be fine in a few months".

A huge wave of relief washed over me.

"Can I see her?", I asked.

"Of course. I'll get you some scrubs and a wheelchair".

When the doctor wheeled me in to the N.I.C.U I smiled when I saw little Violet.

"She's beautiful", I said smiling.

She was small but she was perfect.

"Hi baby", I said sticking my hand through the hole on the incubator.

Her hands were small and soft.

"Mommy loves you".

"Visiting hours are over sadly", a nurse said.

I said goodbye to Violet and went back to my room. Something was telling me it wouldn't be good news for long. I needed someone to talk to other than my emotional parents. I picked my phone up and called Shawn.
"hello?", his groggy voice said.
"Shawn it's Ava".
"Ava hey?".
"I know this night seem crazy but I just need someone to talk to".
"Yeah what's up? How's the pregnancy?".
"Shawn I had her four months early".
I let a tear drop and I heard the line go silent for a moment.
"I'm so sorry Av. I mean are you and her okay?".
"No I just need you".
"Ava I have to tell you something...
~Shawn
Ava had called me around three in the morning and I was shocked. She seemed like I was the last person on earth she wanted to speak to at the restaurant. I discovered she had her baby very early and she said she needed me but right now I'm in New York starting my Illuminate tour. Now would be a good time to tell her.
"Ava I have to tell you something", I said.
"What is it Shawn?".
"I'm in New York. After you broke it off I took a year long tour", I said.
"Shawn why!!! I- I understand", she replied.

I felt bad but to be fair she broke it off with me. I couldn't leave her in her time of need. I grabbed my laptop and booked a flight back to California for a week so I could be with Ava and the baby.
~Ava(1 week later)
I've visited Violet everyday but nothing's changed. She still isn't breathing on her own. Each day I can feel myself growing more depressed. I just want to start my life with my baby girl. I've had plenty of company though. Uncle Cam and aunt Maggie came by, my parents stay with me most of the day and Caleb and Hazel visit too.

"How you holdin up baby sis?", Caleb asked.

I shrugged.

"Hey she's going to be okay. She's a fighter", he said.

I appreciated the support but it didn't make me feel any better. I would feel better if Vi would be able to come home with me.

"Do you want to go see her?", mom asked.

I nodded and got out of the hospital bed. My mom, Caleb and I walked to the room Violet was in and doctors surrounded her.

"What's going on!!!!?", I shouted.

"You need to go back to your room", a doctor said pushing me out.

"Mom what's-

"I don't know Av. They'll tell us soon I promise".

Hours went by until finally a nurse walked in. I could tell by the look on her face I didn't want to hear anything she was going to tell me.

"Is she okay?", I asked with a hint of hope.

"I'm sorry but her lungs weren't developing and she stopped breathing. There's not much else we could do. She's gone", the nurse said walking out.

I burst out Into a violent cry.

"My baby!!!!", I sobbed.

My mom wrapped her arms around me and I sobbed louder into her shirt.

"Baby it's all going to be okay", she cooed. "She's not in pain anymore".

I heard his voice from the doorway and I looked up. He actually came.

"Shawn!!".
