We walked into the entry hall of the town house and were insulted by Kyle's laugh. No doubt he just won Caleb's bundle of cash. Damien rolled his eyes as we walked into the sitting room there was about twenty-one of his kind there including Zeke's coven. Every pair of eyes in the room landed on him and Kerri. Kerri pressed herself closer to Damien's side and buried her head in his chest and whimpered. Caleb was the first one to walk up, his sandy blond hair was cut short and done messy, his forest green eyes were soft as they landed on Kerri. Damien nudged Kerri to come unglued from his side and all Damien got was Kerri lifting her head.
"Hello, my name is Caleb Street" Caleb held out his hand and Kerri looked at it then looked at Damien. Damien nodded and Kerri reached for Caleb's hand with a shaky hand.
"K-Kerri Young" Caleb released her hand and she glued herself back to Damien's side. Caleb noticed and chuckled,
"Am I really that scary? And I thought that I was doing good with not being scary-"
Kerri watched him come closer with worried eyes.
"Can it Kyle "" Caleb shot back at Kyle and Kyle waved him off and smiled at Kerri.
"It's good to see you again Kerri, I see that you meet my lovely Kia" Kyle said as he pulled Kia into a bone crushing hug and kissed her.
Kerri heard a clicking noise coming from the direction of the stairs and looked at me. Damien was already looking at the stairs and was waiting for Jade to walk down them. When she did, her legs appeared and were sheathed in faded blue jeans and her feet clad in the most painful looking black heels a woman could get her hands on. When the top of her appeared, she was dressed in a red top that was a spaghetti strap and a jean half jacket, around her neck was a diamond heart.
Her black hair was pulled up into a half pony tail and her lips were painted light red. Damien heard Kerri's heart beat raced ahead with an alarming rate, Damien held her tighter and tilted her chin up so she looked at him.
"I'm here Kerri, I won't let anything happen to you, calm down please your heart rate is making me anxious."
"Hello Damien." Jade said and he looked up from Kerri's face and at Jade, Jade looked from Damien to Kerri, making Kerri's heart beat harder under Jade's green gaze.
"I see that you decided to bring your human with you." Jade said her voice had a light accent that was Scottish, she looked Kerri from head to toe. Kerri pressed herself even closer and looked away, Damien's arms wrapped around her protectively and he backed away from Jade, forcing Kerri behind him at the same time he leaned forward a bit in a protective stance.
"Back off Jade." The warning came out as a hiss, but Damien didn't care if she turned it into an invitation. If Jade wanted to fight, then he would give one to her. But she wouldn't be coming out of it alive and by the way Caleb was standing in the same stance that Damien was in, he knew that she wouldn't either. But he would engage Damien after Jade was down, he also knew if he did engage Damien in a fight that he would be following Jade.
"Jade I won't hesitate on killing you to protect Kerri. Caleb knows that if he engages me in a fight that he won't win either. So, what do you want? Do you want to cut our numbers down to eight? Let the insurgents win and slaughter the humans?" Damien asked and Jade took a deep breath and stepped back and Caleb wrapped his arms around her. Kia broke Kyle's hold and walked to the window and looked out into the city. Damien turned to Kerri and tucked her head into his chest and soothed her hair.
"I'm sorry Kerri, I didn't mean for you to hear all that" Damien said as he kissed the top of her head and looked down at Kerri, her eyes were big with caution. Damien soothed her hair and spoke soothing words to her and soon her eyes drooped and she relaxed.
